I'm not sure what else the club can do with GH. It seems his dad has been his advisor and at the time it was suggested that with Hirst Snr essentially working for the club that was a conflict of interest. But if George won't sign a new contract then the club's only option might be to sell him to the highest bidder with a sell on clause because if he gets to the end of his contract then he will leave for peanuts and him and his agent (Hirst Snr?) will get a nice signing bonus. Wednesday brought him through to where he is, he should show some loyalty and sign a new contract, go out on loan, do well, work hard and come back to force his way into the team. That's the way it works with clubs these days, for players and agents it seems to be only about money.

You do have to wonder how players like Rhodes, Abdi even Forestieri have played to a very high standard elsewhere but can't flourish under Carlos..
Something is wrong at the club

Not playing to players strengths, same old formation, wrong tactics, players being played out of position, not giving some players a chance, signings, not giving youth a chance and predictable to play against.
Have I missed anything

Sky Sports reporting that Birmingham are to launch a bid for Bannan, but have been told he is not for sale.

We are "poised" to sign Joost Van Aken.
Leicester have reportedly put a £2m bid in for Hirst, Leeds also interested.

The Dutch kid seems to be dragging a bit. But should be a good signing and stop us playing Pudil at cb ffs
I don't think you missed anything, kev. But the question was mostly rhetorical
If we sold Hirst to a Yorkshire rival I'll have kittens

Joost Van Aken has signed for an undisclosed fee.
Interesting to see we have paid a fee for him. DC stated at the fan forum we could only afford Free Agents or Loans.

My thoughts exactly, Kev.
Does this mean we 'have' to move someone on in the next 24hrs? Or is it more smoke screening? If cc doesn't play this kid next week I'm done with him.

Much depends on if its a replace or cover purchase. Got to think that based on age and injury record that Loovens will be a mentor and ultimately the CB paring will be Lees and Joost or Lees and Venancio unless we go wild with all of them in a back 3 and then change the formation.
Hopefully his 6-5" height will help out with goals (and also defending) from set pieces - I didn't check on his record in the Dutch league but surely he can easily out jump Dave.
