As feared, Canada proved much too strong for Wales who lost 1-8 with 2 ends still to go. Ireland sneaked past Denmark 5-4 to get to the Semi-finals.

The Semi-finals again saw Canada defeat a home nation, this time Ireland losing by 2-5 with 1 end to go.

Other Results

Women
Again Canada triumphed over a home nation, consigning Scotland to a 3-5 defeat, by scoring 2 shots in the last end. In the other Semi-final, Switzerland defeated a valiant USA by scoring 3 shots in an extra end for an 8-5 win. USA were 1-5 down with 2 ends to go but came back to level the game.

Gold/Silver Game - Canada v Switzerland
Bronze Medal Game - Scotland v USA

Both Canadian Senior teams are one win away from matching their Men's and Women's teams who won their World Championships with 100% records. They have had home advantage all the way, but it would still be a remarkable feat if they manage to carry it out.

Men's Competition
Sweden ended Canada's run of winning games, and extended their own one, by winning 5-4 after an extra end with an inch-perfect last stone draw. The Swedes had controlled the early ends but Canada came back to tie the game after 8 ends. In the Bronze Medal match, Ireland overcame a slow start to beat Germany 6-3 with an end to play. This means that theis year's Championships produced exactly the same results.

Women's Competition
This time Canada managed to complete their 100% record for the week with a comfortable victory over Switzerland by 10-5 after 7 ends. In the other game Scotland gained Bronze with a hard fought win over USA by 8-5.
