2016/17 (Jan 30 Update) WBA January Transfer Window

The same will undoubtedly happen in August and I agree with Salop, any profits and wage saving made this winter will be conveniently forgotten. It's the Baggie way.

Lack of any serious ambition.

I don't agree at all ..

It's known for a fact we offered Fonte at Southampton more money to join us than West Ham ..
We were first to offer terms that were agreed before our scouts once again found a player for West Ham...
£8 Million and 65k in wages ......
Does that sound like a team that are not trying to sign players ?

I'm happy to go along with the fact we are trying to improve and not just for the sake of buying people Thumb up

Yeah, I lean towards this view. No matter how much money we offer we're still up against this mentality of players who'd rather live and play in London for a lesser club (according to the league table Whistle ) than come up here. I'll be disappointed if we can't add anyone else, but we really shouldn't just be signing any old dross for the sake of signing someone. Going down the Wolves/Villa road will, astonishingly, not lead us anywhere good.

NOBODY signs 3 or 4 'top quality' players in the January window. You should be able to figure this out yourself... Thumb up

I hate the January window.

Anyone know if Sky are planning another flop of a 'Transfer Deadline Day' programme?

7TH IN THE LEAGUE AND STILL NOT HAPPY,

the team we have now is cutting the mustard, we have got rid of bad blood with Saido for a decent price, brought i Livermoore, and i still expect a couple of signings or one decent one.

Don't forget, nobody heard anything of a Rondon deal until he pretty much was released to the press, so lets chill and enjoy our current good form and season.

also as for lack of ambition, we were offering Schneiderlin a brilliant package, so it isn't like we aren't willing to stump up the cash!

MAZZARRI ON IGHALO FUTURE

"I have just heard now that there is a very important offer which we are evaluating."

Asked if it was from China he said:

"I don't like to say all the details, but there is more than one offer, this one might also be from China."

Tidy, I was just going on what TP was publicly saying both before and during the Window.

I agree the January Window is a pain in the butt and bet your bottom dollar Sky will be having their reporters at every Prem club spouting mainly rubbish.

That's fine. I would never have paid £17 million for him. I'd rather have Brown Ideye back for half that. There was unfinished business when he left.

On another note, Berahino has apologised, and fair play to him. Think JP would acknowledge he (JP) could have handled that saga better. TP certainly did.

From BBC Sport:

Berahino apologies to West Brom fans
Stoke striker Saido Berahino says he was "lost" at West Brom and has apologised to fans for his behaviour.

Berahino joined Stoke on 20 January for a fee of £12m, signing a five-and-a-half-year deal to bring an end to a turbulent period at the Hawthorns.

The 23-year-old has not played since September and described his situation at West Brom as "very hard".

"I just thank Stoke for having so much faith in me, for coming window after window, wanting to sign me," he said.

The West Brom academy product scored 20 goals in 45 appearances for the club in 2014-15, attracting interest from Tottenham.

Berahino reacted angrily to a bid from Spurs being turned down on transfer deadline day in summer 2015 and two months later tweeted that he would never play for West Brom again under then-chairman Jeremy Peace.

"All I've ever wanted to do is play football and when that is taken away from you, you are lost. I was very lost," he added.

Tony Pulis said his decision not to play Berahino since September was because of a lack of fitness.

The player was put on a personal training plan in October after tests showed he was eight pounds over his ideal weight.

Nevertheless, the Baggies offered him a new deal for a third time in December, with his contract due to expire at the end of the 2016-17 season.

"Of course I have got some regrets - obviously I could have handled it much better. You live and learn, I guess," Berahino added.

"I take all my actions, all the wrong things that I did, and, as I've said before, the West Brom fans deserve an apology from me for the way I've gone on."

Discussing West Brom's decision to turn down Tottenham's bid in 2015, he said: "They rejected bids and that was the end of it.

"No-one ever sat me down and told me, 'the reason we are not selling you is because of X,Y,Z.'

"They just left it and I carried on doing what I was doing."

It's obvious the reason we didn't sell him to Spurs was because the tight git Levy was offering £5m up front with the next £20m over 4 or 5 years! What good is that??

As for I only want to play football well that's utter crap because he said he'd never play for us again and he hardly did.

Bad outside influences and a moron of an agent who gave him bad advice. So don't be fooled with his "I'm sorry" because he will do exactly the same to Stoke should a top 6 team come in for him.

Good Riddance to a completely ungrateful prat.
