2016/17 (Jan 30 Update) WBA January Transfer Window
I was really pleased when we signed McManaman but Pulis has never given him much of a chance. He was certainly the type of player I thought we needed last season. Hope he gets Owls up.

Always thought he was very dangerous when on form, lets hope he can keep his attitude in check as that seems to have been a problem at both Wigan and with you guys. On the whole it could be a great signing for us and he must be itching to get a chance to shine again!!

To be honest, I'd have liked to have seen us keep McManaman because he was an excellent option from the bench especially when we're chasing a game due to his direct play. Capable of beating any player in a one on one with his pace and trickery.

That said, he faded in and out when he started games and never looked fit enough to play for more than an hour. Obviously didn't put enough of a shift in for Pulis and hasn't been seen in months.

Definite talent on his day though, hopefully he can do well for Wednesday and we can recoup some cash for him.

On his day is a match winner - though fades in a 90 minute game - if lack of fitness and Pulis looking for a winger, why didn't he give him as much attention to get fit as B'no ?

I heard it was £17 million? Am I wrong?

I've no idea; I was just following up Ska'd post.

In the early hours of this morning I dreamed we bought Schneiderlin for £18m and tried to turn him into a left back.
Please, no.

£13m hardly 'smashes' the club record, as quoted.... Dodgy

I read it was £17m but can't remember where.

There have been various media quotes as to the bid ranging from £13m to £18m. I am still of the opinion that the Schneiderlin interest is a smoke screen in an attempt to camouflage our real target. It is so unlike the Baggies to so publically advertise our interest. That said, new owners, new modus operandi maybe.....

I'd also read/heard £13million which considering that Manure have already talked about recouping what they paid for Schneiderlin, positions us way off the mark. Still, this is the Albion negotiating position, why should we expect any different? Offer a "paltry" sum that will clearly be laughed off the table, lose out to another team that actually offers close to or equivalent to what is being asked and then wonder what happened. Finally, sign a free transfer who no other club wants but who is cheap. And I thought the days of "Jeremy's negotiating manual" had been binned. Clearly, someone bought Donald Trump's "The art of the deal" for Christmas.

I remember Frei from his stint at Fulham and wasn't that impressed. Can't say I follow Besiktas very closely though so he may have improved and our scouts have been watching. Certainly got the makings of an interesting window with all the links so far!
