Always nice to see us destroying the green & shites. A comprehensive 4-0 trouncing of Celtic at Lennoxtown:

The ladies' league might be worth more regular comment if Glasgow City didn't clean up every single season. But we're getting closer. Thumb up

Nor am I Fred, nor am I.

There does seem to be a big push by the media and the SFA to establish the women's game as a majority rather than minority sport though. I had to stop following the SFA on twatter because of the endless women's football content they were putting out. Isn't that the job of the SWFA?

I'm happy to support all the club's teams. Wouldn't watch much women's football but it's good to know there's another area we're making progress in.

Are the women's team directly owned and run by the football club or are they a separate entity using the name?

I am not sure women's football will ever amount to much to be honest. Over here they used to have a professional league but while the MLS over here is doing very well, the women league was a huge flop!! Same happened in the NBA. Problem I see is traditionally more men follow sport than women, not by as many as it used to be, and consequently it can be difficult to get men to show the level of interest and therefore money in the women's equivalent of a sport.

They're owned by the same company although technically the LFC is a different club affiliated to the 'men's' club.

I'm not sure it's just about male fans. Football is hugely popular with women in Scotland but I'd guess relatively few know much - if anything - about women's football. It just doesn't have the same level of media coverage and traditional fanbase, and in many ways is an inferior product. I honestly see it as almost a different sport altogether due to the stylistic differences, and it lags way behind in some of the aspects of football that usually excite fans, like pace and power.

Yes I think thats one of the problems they had over here. So many girls play "soccer" over here right through young girls up to college level, but it just doesn't translate into attendance at games, TV coverage or revenue!! Maybe the only way it will work is to have teams affiliated or owned by the traditional and established men's side. Arsenal and Everton have good teams and I think they are wholly owned by the football club, but I wonder how many fans they get etc for their games.
