David Wagner (born 19 October 1971) is a professional football manager and former player who is the manager of EFL Championship club Norwich City.

Son of an American stepfather[2] and German mother, Wagner played for the United States national team, earning eight caps from 1996 until 1998.

From 2011 to 2015 Wagner managed Borussia Dortmund II. In November 2015 took the manager's position at Huddersfield Town, whom he led to the Premier League via the 2017 EFL Championship play-off final. CULTURE

Norwich Castle is a medieval royal fortification in the city of Norwich, in the English county of Norfolk. William the Conqueror (1066–1087) ordered its construction in the aftermath of the Norman Conquest of England. The castle was used as a gaol from 1220 to 1887. In 1894 the Norwich Museum moved to Norwich Castle. The museum and art gallery holds significant objects from the region, especially works of art, archaeological finds and natural history specimens.

The historic national importance of the Norwich Castle site was recognised in 1915 with its listing as a scheduled monument.[2] The castle buildings, including the keep, attached gothic style gatehouse and former prison wings, were given Grade I listed building status in 1954.[3] The castle is one of the city's twelve heritage sites, and is managed by the Norfolk Museums Service.

Who’s Available?

Milutin Osmajić will once again be unavailable this weekend, although Ryan Lowe is hopeful the striker can feature against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.

Long-term absentee Emil Riis is back in training but is seven to ten days away from being in contention for a matchday squad.

Ali McCann will be pushing for a start after making his own return from injury in the last outing against Queens Park Rangers.

Opposition Focus

Norwich City head into the weekend on the back of three victories in their previous four matches, following a run of one win in the ten games previous.

With David Wagner at the helm, they have a man who’s earned promotion to the Premier League in the past with Huddersfield Town, and he then successfully kept them in the top flight against the odds.

He’s got a good mix of youth and experience at his disposal this term, trusting youngsters such as Jonathan Rowe and Adam Idah, together with Championship veterans Shane Duffy and Kenny McLean.

A Recent Clash

North End came out 3-2 winners in an entertaining clash against Norwich City last time out at Carrow Road in October 2022.

Match Officials

Oliver Langford – who officiated four North End matches last season – will take of Saturday’s fixture.

Langford was also initially set to referee this very fixture in the 2022/23 campaign, however Dean Whitestone took over in a late change.

So far this season, Langford has shown 50 yellow cards and two reds in 13 matches.

MACS VIEW

7am Coach from the ground, another afternoon of Mr Fantastic's football, loony division the Championship we been pants for months and we are 8th. City btter than they were although you suspect Mr Wagner is only one crap result away from the sack and we have Oliver Langford as referee, what could possibly go wrong?

Norwich City line-up: Gunn; Stacey (Fisher, 72), Duffy, McClean, Giannoulis (Placheta, 81); Fassnacht (Gibbs, 56), Sara, Núñez, Hernandez (Sainz, 72); Barnes (Rowe, 56), Idah. Subs not used: Long, McCallum, Batth, Forshaw.

PNE line-up: Woodman; Storey, Whatmough, Lindsay; Potts, Whiteman, McCann (Ledson, 88), Hughes (Brady, 88); Evans, Browne; Millar (Holmes, 63). Subs not used: Cornell, Cunningham, Keane, Frøkjær, Woodburn, Best.

Attendance: 25,761 (504 PNE fans).

Referee: Mr O Langford.

7am starts are always fun at this time you are lucky if you see any daylight and with te weather yesterday this was limited even more, lashing rain, low mist even the second city was not visible in the gloom.
Arrived nice and early wandered round the vicinity over the river around the ground a couple of times, suspect Norwich is better in the sun.

Team selection by Mr Fantastic screamed draw is our preferred option. First 20 minutes little happened apart from it poured down,, got increasingly windy and a sudden drop in warmth.

Norwich got on top Hernandez should have preobably done better when through, decent save by Woodman, some shots from distance which were well blocked. The Norwich penalty box was probably on teh Christmas wish list for the team as we never actually got in it until the 45th minute.

Second period much better slightly more entertaining, Lindsay headed wide and Potts fired just over. City again looked dangerous but to be fir we defended well and cloed them out when they got in the area. Whiteman hit the bar , but the two best chance fell to the home side, Gibbs played through missed a sitter, Brownecleared brilliantly off the line. Deep in injury time Whatmough denied by a good block by a City defender.
Set out for a point mission achieved whether we deseved it is for another day.

Journey home in gale force winds wonderful.

Norwich head coach David Wagner told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"I have no complaints about the shift put in by the players but offensively we lacked a bit of creativity and were not ruthless.

"In a game like this, you will not create nine or 10 clear-cut chances, but we created two or three and these are the moments when you have to kill the game.

"But defensively we played very well, our counter press was top class, we nailed them in the final third and more or less gave nothing away.

"They had their first corner in stoppage time, we had 10 so it's clear who should have won this game - it's frustrating, but I can see good things as well."

Preston boss Ryan Lowe:

"It was a solid, resolute performance and our application was spot on.

"This is a difficult place to come to and our attitude going into the game was to keep the back door shut and whatever happens at the other end we will take.

"It is a fantastic point after a disappointing run of results and a lot of hard work has got us there against a good team who have been on a decent run.

"This is an important building block for us and now we need to build on it."

Yep, Dave won on corner sadly it's goals that mean more
