All of two weeks since we lost to the Blades in the league at their gaff, we've not won since then neither have they however they have played MK Dons and Spurs whilst we have not.
Given last nights decent result at White Hart Lane be interesting to see what kind of side Clough puts out, whoever plays will provide tough opposition. As for us no sub keeper as Johnstone is cup tied big Stuckie back between the sticks, they have sold 2300 tickets should be a good atmosphere as for North End we can only improve.

I think they may play a weakened side to keep a few players fresh for their return leg game against Spurs in the League Cup.

A draw was probably a fair result as both sides gave their all in a really entertaining game, given the commitment of both teams it was interesting to note that not once during the 96 minutes did the trainer come onto the pitch. North End dominated the first half and played better than they had in the last couple of home games. They looked to be playing at a higher tempo which was good to see.
The Blades made eight changes from the side that had narrowly lost in the League Cup semi Final at White Hart Lane and took some time to get going. North End deservedly took the lead after 19 minutes from a free kick. Gallagher from 30 yards over the wall, past the keeper and into the net. The only sad thing was that we just could not get the second. Welsh and Ebanks-Blake were outstanding as was Gallagher.
United created little although the well built Higdon put himself about and was generally a nuisance. Davies fired a free kick miles wide which was about as it got for the Blades.
North End should have killed the game off in the early stages of the second half two Clarke headers and a Gallagher shot went narrowly wide, but the best chance created by Welsh, Humphreys and Woods ended with the ball being passed behind an unmarked Ebanks-Blake and cleared by a grateful Blades backline. The Blades started to press, thought when a shot beat Stuckmann but Woods made a super goalline clearance to stop the goal. It was a warning, the introduction of Murphey changed the game, he was dangerous every time he got the ball, and provided an assist for the Blades goal. A soft free kick was taken quickly North End switched off Murphey crossed and De Girolamo scored from close range. The home fans were less than impressed with the decision to let the Blades take a quick free kick as Mr Stroud had all afternoon stopped North End taking them.
Both sidfes pressed for the winner didn't get it so it's back to Bramall Lane in 10 days time. May even go depending on prices can go and put myself on Jessica Ennis.
