Peterborough United defender Emmanuel Fernandez has signed a new three-year contract with the League One club.

The 22-year-old made his senior Posh debut in a Championship game against Middlesbrough in April 2022.

He made 18 appearances in the 2023-24 season, scoring twice, as Peterborough reached the play-offs for the second season in a row.

"He finished last season strongly and it was always going to be tough to displace Ronnie Edwards and Josh Knight because they were playing so well, but he has a lot of good attributes and it is good that we have managed to secure his services on a long-term deal," said boss Darren Ferguson.

Peterborough United have signed forward Christopher Conn-Clarke from National League side Altrincham for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Northern Irishman, who scored 22 goals in 47 appearances last season, has signed a three-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

Conn-Clarke began his career with Glentoran and had spells with Burnley and Fleetwood before joining Altrincham last summer following a previous loan spell.

"I spoke to the manager; he gave me a fantastic presentation on how he sees me fitting into the team and why he wanted to bring me to the club.

"Once I’ve completed pre-season, I’ll set my targets for goals and assists and try to hit them but really I want to stamp my authority on the team and hope the fans enjoy watching what I do."

Conn-Clarke is Peterborough's second signing of the summer, following Abraham Odoh from Harrogate.

They have reached the League One play-offs for the past two seasons under Darren Ferguson but lost to Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United, who both went on to win promotion.

Ferguson said of Conn-Clarke: "He has all the attributes to step up to League One level after a fantastic season in the National League and I’m sure he will be a brilliant acquisition for the club."

Peterborough United have signed young defender George Nevett from Rochdale on a four-year contract.

The 18-year-old made his first start for Rochdale against Ebbsfleet last August and went on to play 34 National League games in all.

Owner Darragh MacAnthony said on X, formerly Twitter, that Posh have paid a "six-figure fee" for the Wales Under-19 international, and the deal also includes an option for a further year.

He is Peterborough's second signing of the week, following Monday's arrival of forward Chris Conn-Clarke from another north-west National League side, Altrincham.

"Given where I was a year ago it really is a dream come true to be sitting here about to play at this level," Nevett told the Peterborough website, external.

"When I look at young players like Ronnie Edwards who came here from Barnet at a similar age to me, I really do have role models for what I am looking to achieve in my own career."

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson said they had watched Nevett closely last season.

He added: "We think he has massive potential to succeed at this level. I’m looking forward to seeing him progress his game in a Posh shirt."

Peterborough United goalkeeper Jed Steer has signed a new two-year contract with the League One club.

Steer initially joined Posh on a short-term deal in January and returned the following month for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old former Aston Villa keeper made 22 appearances in total, including the EFL Trophy final at Wembley when they beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1.

"We wanted to go up to the Championship and hopefully next year we will achieve that goal together," he told the club website.

"We have a great group of young, hungry players. Going to Wembley this year, to win the trophy and the experience that brings to the group was really beneficial, a great experience."

Steer - who also played in both legs of the play-off semi-final against Oxford United - will again compete with Nicholas Bilokapic to be boss Darren Ferguson's first-choice.

"It was a really important target for us to re-sign Jed for the coming season," Ferguson said.

"With interest in him from other clubs playing at a higher level I think it’s a massive achievement for the club that he has decided to stay with us and continue to work towards our targets for the coming campaign and beyond.”

Peterborough United have signed Crewe defender Rio Adebisi and Fleetwood winger Cian Hayes, both for undisclosed fees.

Adebisi, 23, has agreed a three-year contract with Posh following 136 appearances for Crewe, 54 of them last season when they reached the League Two play-off final.

Hayes, who has signed a similar deal, played 12 games for Fleetwood last season, during which he also had two spells with National League club Rochdale.

Their arrivals came on the same day that highly-rated defender Ronnie Edwards left the club to join Southampton for a reported £3m.

Peterborough have now made five signings this summer, the pair following Abraham Odoh, Chris Conn-Clarke and George Nevett.

"It has taken a little while longer than perhaps we all wanted to, but I am delighted everything is complete and I can look forward to a new challenge here," said Adebisi, who cost a "high six-figure fee" according to owner Darragh MacAnthony.

"I feel that this club is the perfect fit for me, they like to play good football and the manager has had a lot of success here, which I hope I can be part of moving forward.

Hayes, 21, scored eight goals for his two clubs last term and boss Darren Ferguson said: "We were looking at different types of wingers to add to the group and he can bring different things to the mix.

"He actually came on for Fleetwood against us before joining Rochdale and he obviously had a really good season with them."

Peterborough, who start the new campaign with a home game against Huddersfield Town, have reached the League One play-offs in the last two seasons.

Peterborough United have made their sixth summer signing by bringing in left-back Jack Sparkes from promoted Championship club Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract as cover following the loss of fellow summer signing Rio Adebisi.

Left-back Adebisi, who only signed from Crewe Alexandra last week, suffered a knee injury which is expected to keep him out for up to four months.

"Some of Rio's cartilage has come away in a bit of a freak accident," said Posh manager Darren Ferguson. "We had to act quick as Jack was on his way to sign for another club in League One.

"His agent helped. We know him. Arron Davies used to play for me and played here. And we enquired about Jack last season which also helped us."

Sparkes, who began his career at Exeter City, had loans with non-league clubs Torquay United and Chippenham Town before making 43 first-team appearances for Pompey last season as they won promotion to the Championship.

Posh start the new League One season on Saturday 10 August with a home game against Huddersfield Town.

Peterborough United have signed Swedish defender Oscar Wallin for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old, who has agreed a two-year contract, has been with Swedish second-tier side Degerfors since January 2022.

Wallin is Posh's seventh signing since their play-off defeat by Oxford United in May.

"He is 6ft 3in, quick and can handle the ball - all of the things we look for in a centre-back," Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson told the club website., external

"There are things he needs to improve on - he has to adapt to a different league and tempo - but we think he can.


"We are not promising he is going to be the finished article from day one, because he is not - but, certainly, we see a lot of potential in him.

"There were a lot of bigger clubs in the top league in Sweden after him, but once he saw the way we play, he was very keen.

"It maybe surprised him because perhaps the perception is that there isn't much football played in the lower leagues in England, but we know there is and we are [a team who play]."

Ferguson praised Peterborough video analyst Matt Loades for scouting Wallin, whose deal is subject to a work permit application.

"We went further afield and started looking at different leagues, particularly in Scandinavia," Ferguson added.

"It is a rarity for us to go abroad in terms of players. I don't remember too many times we have, if at all.

"Myself and the chairman [Darragh MacAnthony] spoke about it because we needed to branch out a little bit and explore different markets.

"He has had a good season so far. In Sweden they have already played 15 games, so he arrives fit and ready to go."

Peterborough begin their League One campaign at home to Huddersfield Town on 10 August.

Peterborough United have signed right-back Sam Curtis from Championship club Sheffield United on a season-long loan.

The teenager joined the Blades from Irish club St Patrick's in January and made his debut in the Premier League as a substitute against Everton.

Curtis is Peterborough's eighth summer signing ahead of their new-season opener at home to Huddersfield on 10 August.

"He is young, only 18, but he plays way beyond that in terms of his manner and how he plays the position," said Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson.

Curtis has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level and could play for Posh in Saturday's friendly against Notts County.

"He is an aggressive defender, will get forward and support the attack," Ferguson added.

"He was very keen on coming, we think he will be a really good signing for us. (Sheffield United boss) Chris Wilder really recommended him and was great to deal with, so we thank him for that."

Peterborough United have signed midfielder Mahamadou Susoho on a season-long loan from Premier League champions Manchester City.

The 18-year-old made his senior City debut as a second-half substitute in their 3-2 Champions League win at Dinamo Zagreb in December and has been on their pre-season tour to the United States.

Susoho has also played two games for their Under-21 side, against Grimsby and Bradford, in last season's EFL Trophy.

"I want to get out of my comfort zone and I feel this loan move will allow me to do that," he told the Peterborough website.

"I would describe myself as good in possession, calm and someone who can help the defence and the attack. I really enjoyed the tour in America with City and now I am looking forward to this loan move."

He is Peterborough's ninth summer signing ahead of their new-season opener at home to Huddersfield on 10 August.

"It was tied up a while ago, but we were just waiting on Manchester City in terms of the dates," said Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson.

"I think he is a big signing for us. He is going to add to our options in the middle of the pitch - we felt we needed a bit more depth in there."

Peterborough United have signed Colchester striker Bradley Ihionvien on a three-year contract while Manchester City defender Jadel Katongo is returning to London Road for a second season-long loan spell.

Katongo, 19, was a regular feature in Peterborough's side last season, making 43 appearances - including their EFL trophy win against Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley.

"I am buzzing to be back. I really loved my time at the club last season so when the opportunity came to return, it was something I was really excited about," Katongo said, external.

Ihionvien, 20, joins having signed a two-year deal with Colchester in October 2023.

He scored four goals in his 29 League Two games for the U's last season.

"He is a young player that we have been monitoring over the last 12 months. He played against us in pre-season and he performed like we expected him to do," Posh manager Darren Ferguson said, external.

"He has pace, he is strong and left-footed, which is slightly different to the strikers we have."

"He is a player with a lot of development in him and I am excited to work with him."

Meanwhile midfielder Donay O'Brien-Brady, 20, has agreed a new three-year deal, while defender and academy graduate James Dornelly has signed fresh terms on a four-year contract.

O'Brien-Brady has featured in all three of Peterborough's games this season, while Dornelly, 19, made his fourth League One appearance for the side during their 4-1 victory against Shrewsbury Town.
