Right there has been a lot of discussion lately after Emily Thornberry tweeted the pic of 3 England flags on a house and its open the discussion on is the England flag racist.
Imo I don't think the flag is racist because other countries fly there flag with national pride, why can't we? The main problem is certain political parties such as the EDL and BNP have adopted the English flag and British flag as there logo, so if you fly the English or British flag people jump to conclusions that you support these political parties and deem that you are a racist.
I think that we should be allowed to fly the British and English flag and the EDL and BNP should be stopped from using it as there logo. I also believe Britain First should not use the poppy as there logo either.

At the end of the day its our national flag, so anyone should be allowed to fly it with pride!! In fact it should be encouraged, the only way to make it irrelevant to right wing parties is for ordinary folk to use it, show it and be proud of it. There is nothing wrong with being patriotic and proud of your country, and the flag is one of the ways to represent that.

Very true Charles. Do you fly a British or English flag in the states?

No, a lot of Americans fly the flag outside their homes and out of respect I choose not to fly a flag of any type. I do though wear a lot more clothing here with the flag on it than I ever did when I lived in England. I have a couple of England rugby shirts and football shirts as well as a bunch of tshirts with various England words and logos on.
While Americans can be a bit over the top with their patriotism, it is one aspect of them that I like. There truly is nothing wrong with loving your country, as long as its not at the expense or to the detriment of others. A lot of Mexicans fly theiir flag over here and no one minds them doing that, in fact a lot of Americans like that they show their pride in the home country.
One other thing, I tend to wear clothing with the Cross of St George on it rather than the Union Jack, and when asked where I am from I always say England. The UK or Britain doesn't register as much with Yanks as England does, and in a lot of cases they refer to the UK as England anyway, much to the disgust of the Scots I know!!!

This. Spot on.
Also, the Thornberry woman said nowt wrong. She tweeted a picture of a house with the flag along with the words "Image from Rochester". What the hell's wrong with that? Is it not an image? Is it not from Rochester? Utter bollocks from the tabloid media, but that's par for the course with those vermin.

I don't think she said anything wrong but it was taken out of context because the media are trying to put pressure on Labour and Miliband.

She was attempting to belittle the people of Rochester who had just elected a UKIP MP. The snobbery in the Labour party is appalling and just alienates ordinary people like "White van, flag man".
These are our traditional voters. The working class. Snobs like her have to go and Eddy Baby was right to give her the boot.
