Captains.

Quick, and simple question.

Mark Hudson - centre back - is the new Huddersfield captain. Do you care who it is, or what position they play in?

I prefer it to be a defender. I've been wanting Mark Hudson to have the role.

I think it's better that the captain has the squad in his sights in other words.

In theory it shouldnt matter a a good leader should be able to lead no matter what

in reality though it does seem to be that central outfield players ( Centre backs Centre Mids) seem to make the best captains. they are involved in the play but from a central position can better see and direct the team

It's always been my opinion that you pick the team first, then pick a captain. But then again, the role of club captain is an important one these days. I think it's fitting that the new skipper should be appointed for the match when the old one returns.
I feel a bit sorry for Pelts, but I never thought he was right for the job.

I feel sorry for Pelts, too, but I'd rather have Hudson.

Generally, I think it's usually better to have someone older and wiser - or really, what I mean by that is, someone with a mature attitude, which a young man could have and an old man might not have. I thought James Vaughan was a dreadful choice because he's far too impetuous and hot-headed, and whilst he was great at geeing everyone up when they were a bit down, he couldn't do the calming things down when tempers are getting frayed side of it. When the captaincy was given to Smithies, it seemed to make him play better, but I'm not sure he's sufficiently forceful a personality to make it work.
