A week that started with an open-topped bus tour of the city and cheering crowds ended up with Plymouth Argyle releasing nine of the squad which helped them gain promotion from League Two, including Jordan Slew and Connor Smith. Slew, 24, scored six times in 40 appearances for the Pilgrims.
Striker Jimmy Spencer and midfielder Ryan Donaldson are among the other players who will leave the club. Also leaving Home Park are Ryan Brunt, who did not feature last season after suffering knee injury in March of the previous campaign, and David Ijaha, whose season was also affected by fitness problems and Nauris Bulvitis. Louis Rooney, who spent the second half of last season at League Two Hartlepool United, is another Pilgrim who is being released, along with goalkeeper Vincent Dorel.
