I must have missed rangers "token gesture".  Celtic have banned fans and their supporters groups reps have slated the behaviour at stranraer.

But aye the flares and smoke bombs are horrific, and though its not just them they are by far the worst on that front. Regan is right for once that someone is going to get seriously hurt unless it's addressed. I really don't understand the appeal of that at all.

The republican/IRA chants are just embarrassing and offensive and need clamping down on. It's nearly always their away support so they should be far more capable of sorting it out.

Some fine or sanction from the SFA is appropriate.

The sectarian thing goes much deeper than a football match, it`s part of our society and has been for well over 100 years. Back in the 50`s and 60`s  there were over 100 arrests at most Old firm games but none were ever for singing sectarian songs or verbal abuse. Old firm games were not the only ones to suffer but they produced the vast majority of it.
Society accepted the situation,as did the SFA, but coming out recently and demanding it stop is very much in line with closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
100 years of history is not going to change overnight.

It just proves how backward we've become in this country if we've allowed this whole issue to fester for all those decades since the 1960s and nobody has ever tried seriously to really stamp it out properly and move Scottish society into a new age of modernism that has no room for this kinda abuse any more particularly in a sporting context!!

Had to laugh at the Dundee Utd's response to the flare,we may have to play behind closed doors if it continues, the way there playing they'd be doing there fans a favour playing behind closed doors.
