I dream of being minted and sponsoring an F1 car. Problem with that (I was involved years ago in Sports 2000 which supported F3) you can spend a lot of money just to be at the back of the grid and not compete.

Rosberg took his third win in a row to give good momentum for a title challenge next year. Hamilton was second to complete yet another Mercedes 1-2. The Ferraris were next, although Vettel had to come through the field to fourth place after a poor qualifying and the team looked like they were looking forward to the winter (a bit below par operationally). The Force Indias were quick, with Perez in fifth and Hulkenburg seventh. Perez will be satisfied with his season, outshining the highly rated Hulkenburg who looks like he will never get a shot at a big team now. Ricciardo was sixth for Red Bull, with his teammate Kvyat in tenth. Kvyat has managed to finish the season higher in the championship than Ricciardo, which not many people would have thought possible at the start of the year after Ricciardo upstaged Vettel last season. The Williams had a poor race with Massa in eighth and Bottas thirteenth. Grosjean was ninth in his last race for Lotus before he moves to lead the new American Haas team next year. Grosjean has easily outclassed Maldonado this season, although there are signs that Maldonado might be starting to mature. Maldonado was unfortunate to be taken out of this race on the opening lap by Alonso. Alonso and Button will be hoping that McLaren and Honda produce a car worthy of their championship pedigree next year after a very frustrating season. The Toro Rosso young guns of Verstappen and Sainz have impressed well in their rookie seasons; both look like they have the potential to move to the senior team in the future, although they will be given another learning year with the junior outfit next season. The Sauber car started the season out well, although they gradually drifted down the grid as the year went on. Nasr has had a good rookie season and Ericsson is also showing signs of improving. Manor/Marussia are in turmoil with senior staff resigning, but at least they have survived. They will hope to move up the grid next year when they switch to a Mercedes engine, but it remains to be seen how much the loss of critical team members will hurt them.

Brilliant stuff Pob, thank you for doing this. I am certainly up for doing this again next season, give us plenty of warning and lets see if we can drum up a few others to take part.

Yes, it was a good competition and the updates pre and post race added great value. As SCO says - we need to give it more air time before the next season to see if we can get more people involved. |
