Accrington Stanley have signed Blackpool defender Doug Tharme on loan.

The 22-year-old - who has yet to play a senior game for the Championship club - has agreed a season-long deal at the League One side.

Former Wrexham youngster Tharme joined Blackpool from Southport in February and spent the rest of last season back on loan at his former club.

He has also had experience at non-league side Curzon Ashton and Welsh Premier side Connah's Quay Nomads.

"I was interested in trying to take him on a permanent deal but Blackpool came up with the money we couldn't and it's a move to the Championship as well so I can understand that," said Accrington boss John Coleman to the club website.

"He is level-headed, he has got an unbelievable attitude, he is keen to do well and he is not taking anything for granted.

"He is a good defender and he is a handful in both boxes. He wants to compete and ticks all the boxes for what makes a good defender for Accrington and hopefully we will see the best of him this year," he added.

Accrington Stanley have brought in defender Bailey Sloane from non-league side Clitheroe for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Accrington.

He successfully came through a trial after impressing against the Reds' under-23 side in the summer.

Sloane began his senior career at Bury AFC before moving to Clitheroe in the Northern Premier League Division One West last season - the eighth tier of English football.

The move is subject to EFL, Northern Premier League and FA ratification.

Accrington Stanley have signed free agent striker Nathan Delfouneso on a short-term contract.

Delfouneso left Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season, having scored 65 goals in 438 career games since his debut for Aston Villa in 2008.

The 31-year-old will add depth to the League One side's forward ranks, given recent injuries to Stanley forwards Joe Pritchard and Kody Adedoyin.

"He has plenty of experience," boss John Coleman told the club website.

"Hopefully he will give the lads a lift in the attacking department."

Delfouneso made 239 of his career appearances for Blackpool, and also lists Blackburn, Burnley and Coventry among his former clubs.

"I have been in the game a long time but I have still got a lot to do in the game and I can pass on my experience to the younger players," Birmingham-born Delfouneso said.

"I have a lot left in me after a difficult past 18 months, I am eager and motivated and itching to get going and produce what I know I can."

Brentford have loaned striker Aaron Pressley to Accrington Stanley for the remainder of the season.

Pressley, the son of former Hearts defender Steven, has played three senior games for his parent club.

He is yet to figure at Premier League level but did play in the Championship, and scored four goals in 27 games for then-League One AFC Wimbledon last term.

"I've been chasing Aaron for a while," Stanley boss John Coleman said.

"He's now got League One experience, he's a strong lad and will be a focal point for us. We definitely need a striker and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday."

Pressley has recently returned to action with Brentford's B team, scoring three goals, after recovering from a long-term injury.

Bees B-team boss Neil McFarlane said: "It's fantastic for Aaron, who has come through a tough spell with his injury.

"He has come back fantastically well and has really contributed for us in recent weeks."

Accrington Stanley have signed midfielder Seb Quirk on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Premier League strugglers Everton.

The 21-year-old joined Everton at the age of 11 and went on to sign his first professional deal in July 2020.

He made five appearances for the club in this season's Papa Johns Trophy.

"I had a good first half of the season at Everton for the U23s, I had a good run of games, I was injury free and I feel physically ready now," said Quirk.

Accrington Stanley have signed midfielder Anthony Mancini on a short-term deal.

The 21-year-old has been without a club since leaving Burnley in June last year, for whom the Frenchman failed to make a first-team appearance.

Mancini began his career at Olympique Lyonnais, and spent time at Tours and Angers before joining the Clarets in October 2020.

"He gives us something different," boss John Coleman said.

"He's got a good left peg, a good footballing brain and hopefully he can kickstart his career with us."
