Walsall @Deepdale 7/1/2015 JPT Area Final 1st leg
#1
Well here we go, is it time for another of those epic fails that have marked my life following North End, 9 play offs and one previous JPT Northern area final defeat against close local rivals Burnley. We were never going to lose to the Dingles in that final but we did. It was John McGrath's masterplan to play Gary Swann at left back in the second leg, still a mystery after nearly 30 years.
Tough game on Wednesday against a Walsall side who have already stuffed us at the Bescott this season.
A Fleetwood fan who I work with said they are the best side he has seen this season, so it won't be easy. Keep Bradshaw away from the goal and we might stand a chance.
Back to the first team after managing to get Neil Adams to resign, lets for once do something when it matters and lets do it on Wednesday.
It's on Sky for those who want to watch will it be Deal or No Deal.

Good first half. Beckford unlucky, good saves from the keeper, but they have to go in really. Try putting it either side of the keeper, Jermaine. Lol.

Buggered now, mac. 2-0. All Beckford's chances and then bang bang goodnight.

On a soggy night in Lancashire, Northn End hopes of a Wembley appearance in the JPT were all but extinguished thanks to two goals by visitors Walsall. Both were late Christmas gifts, firstly keeper Stuckmann under hit clearance led to a foul on the edge of the bow which Forde curled in past the static German, then in injury time Wiseman gave the ball straight to an unmarked Bradshaw who advanced on goal and slotted the ball through Stuckie's legs to give the Saddlers a two goal lead going into the second leg.
It had all looked so different in a very entertaining first half were it seemed to be O'Donell against North End, the Walsall keeper saved everything although have to say most of his saves were fairly straight forward except the one after 10 minutes when Beckford's header struck the keeper's foot.
North End played some excellent football in the first period but did not score, Walsall also played their part, Taylor hit a psot from a free kick whilst another effort went close.
The second half although not as entertaining but became a tactical battle which have to say Walsall shaded. Apart from a Gallagher free kick, North End created little, Dean Smith's team talk worked the oracle and Walsall were more on the front foot, an early cross scooted across the face of the goal whilst a shot from distance was narrowly wide. It looked a draw with a few minutes left but Walsall ensured that it was not with a little help from the home boys.
Finally a word about the referee thought he was excellent, took the conditions into account and did well.
