WIMBLEDON 2019 THREAD - Devongone - 30-06-2019

Nick Kyrgios will play Rafa Nadal in the second round if they both get through. Should be interesting after all Nick has said about him.

It'll be interesting to see how Paul Jubb can play in the first round against Joao Sousa. Having won the NCAA as a 19 year old Jubb is still an amateur.

One of the players to watch Felix Auger-Allassime has a potentially difficult match against fellow Canadian Psopisil and if he gets through that he gets Dimitrov who used to be the next big thing and was everybody's boyfriend.

Khachanov versus Feliciano Lopez in Round Two could see some serving ....... Taylor Fritz and Berdych is a tough opening round for both ....... and Casper Ruud trying to deal with the giant John Isner might be a an interesting clash too.

Naomi Osaka won't enjoy playing Putintseva, Coco Gauff at 15 v Venus Williams at 39 could a classic of generational change ......

Kyrgios is quite capable of not showing up or storming off.

Heather Watson serving looks as though she should stick to advertising.

I am a terrible person.

Quite a day of shocks so far on Day 1. Osaka gone already and now Zverev and Tsitsipas.

Well well well. A new star is born.

Coco Gauff, 15 years old,  has beaten the old warrior Venus Williams in straight sets. Smartass

Venus beaten by someone 24 years younger than her should make her think sod it, time to call it a day

I enjoyed that, maclad!

Then our boy Kyle Edmund beat Jaume Munar. Hardly a shock but it'll do!

I agree with that, but the onus to some degree is on the rest of the top players to beat both the William’s sisters on a more regular basis. That is definitely beginning to happen to Venus but Serena would still be world #1 if it wasn’t for injuries!!
