Hibs POTM vote for January - 0762 - 02-02-2017

I'd probably have given this award to Kris Commons in appreciation of his significant contribution to Hibs current push for the title! However, there are still other notable solid performers and I think Darren Mac just gets my vote - an unsung hero for us who I reckon Rangers would take back in an instant after watching the bbc news highlights of Warburton's shambolic defence. IMO he's a smidgeon off being called up to the full Scotland World Cup squad!

Agreed about Darren Mac......always solid and a great pinch from sevco.

2 important goals from Commons did secure 2 wins at an important time to stretch the lead over Dundee United so will always be grateful to him.

I wasn't sure about McGregor but boy has he really proved me wrong. Its another indicator of how xxxx clueless the management teams at the sevcodome have been since they reformed letting him go when you see the pish they have at the back now. He's an excellent defender and the manager clearly admires him a lot going by that interview last week, happy for him to get the award.

That said I think commons contribution in that loan spell could well be crucial for us,2 absolutely priceless goals v Falkirk and Dumbarton. He was kind of the missing piece of the puzzle for us - the goalscoring midfielder with a bit of "savvy".

RE: Hibs POTM vote for January - 0762 - 02-02-2017

You're 'spot on' with that last line Jim. The missing link - a midfielder who drives 'through the hole' in front of an opposition back line and knows where the goal is. That's been one of my biggest bugbears since the days when observing the likes of the 'pitbull' occasionally doing exactly that and then turning back to look for a convenient pass to another team mate because that skill was not within his capabilities! Other Hibs mid players like Scotty Allan showed 'flashes' of that kinda skill but it wasn't a natural skill to do it and do it like clock work.

RE: Hibs POTM vote for January - hibeejim21 - 02-02-2017

Allan never was nor ever will be close to kris commons as a player, even now as his career winds down.

RE: Hibs POTM vote for January - 0762 - 02-02-2017

Aye! I concur with that view and echo the disappointment re Commons not taking up Hibs offer to take him back to ER for the rest of the season. Listening to Lenny today on Radio Forth and he's not too fussed re that failure and emphasising the fact it was only one player who he hoped to add to his 1st team squad anyway.

RE: Hibs POTM vote for January - HerefordBull - 03-02-2017

Report in the Sun saying we are still trying to get him on an "emergency loan"..................the Sun Doh

RE: Hibs POTM vote for January - 0762 - 03-02-2017

Aye! A 'rag' called the Sun lol! Not a tabloid that I go out of my way to read and that practise won't change any time soon!

Just looking through the names of players mentioned for POTM sadly IMO one player never seems to be talked about for me Big Marvin Bartley is a rock solid player for us every time he pulls on a strip.

When you listen to him getting interviewed on the Cup Final CD he loves our club just a Truly Honest & Hard working Proffesional

GGTTH

Aye! Definitely another 'unsung hero', a solid professional!
