2nd referee - BBB - 09-01-2017 Would anyone like a 2nd referee to refer to for dubious decisions: Such as sending offs, and goal mouth fouls. Having seen so many sending offs recinded, it would then have spoilt a game with 10 men for the paying supporter. RE: 2nd referee - 4evaabaggie - 09-01-2017 Second ref should be locked in an office deep inside the stadium with no outside influences with access to instant video replays and a link to the three match officials only, he could get clear pictures and correct decisions whilst the melee occurs on the pitch ...... but wait the big boys could not con a video to get an unfair advantage .... will not therefore happen. Bitter and twisted or just twisted. Who knows. RE: 2nd referee - drewks - 09-01-2017 Rugby Union, and even cricket, have changed and have got it right IMO - but football's ruling bodies seem to be so arrogant, and/or stupid; so apposed to change it's untrue. RE: 2nd referee - meandbrenarebaggies - 09-01-2017 Let’s consider the question of introducing a separate referee. The point is this isn’t a game; this is a multinational, very high value, business involving millions of people with vested interests in its continuance as a money making megastructure. The days of it being in existence for “the fans” or “fairplay” are as dated as Biggles. They will not change anything that threatens the income stream, profit margins, tv revenues that now are so important they can arrange for governments to defer to their demands. We don’t watch a football game now with any sense of inclusion; we watch with a sense of dread fascination at how long this thing can grow before it either collapses inward or actually takes over the whole world. So, no, we will never have a separate referee. Oh and the FA, UEFA and FIFA would not allow their little pets be upset by having to compete on a level playing field hence the FFP, the new youth academy system, the champions league, the premier league etc etc etc. Sorry still bitter and twisted. Come on you baggies RE: 2nd referee - meandbrenarebaggies - 09-01-2017 Why do people watch sport? An actor called Robert Morley (I think) once stated that he never watched or took part in any form of sport as he considered it all a, literal, waste of time. With a history of spending hundreds of hours chasing a ball, throwing things and jumping over things in all sorts of weathers and ending up with knackered joints, I think I see what he meant. I came to spectating late and with an expectation of somehow reliving the thrill by watching others. The truth is it isn’t the same. Once you have seen a thousand goals; five thousand goals, another half dozen doesn’t seem to matter all that much. I understand youngsters still having enthusiasm but I find I watch sport and often wonder, why? …particularly The Premiership! I think it would make the game far more interesting if we had random celebrity refs..say 5 out of every 20 games to be officiated by rejects from Bake Off or Strictly. Think of the decisions! Think of the controversy! Think of the riots and lynchings! RE: 2nd referee - drewks - 09-01-2017 (09-01-2017, 22:18)meandbrenarebaggies Wrote: Why do people watch sport? An actor called Robert Morley (I think) You still haven't really answered the question have you - Question was don't you think its now necessary because as you say the following, bets, fair play and so forth? And i'm not surprised at Robert MORLEY saying that as he looked as if he couldn't flick a disk in tiddly-winks. RE: 2nd referee - BBB - 12-01-2017 As far as I'm concerned the game should have a 2nd referee. Reason bad decisions spoilt games, though Leicester were brilliant with 10 men recently. I'd also add a Non Verbal ruling. |
