Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 14-12-2024 Just when it was looking like Albion couldn't win in a month of Sundays, we went and did exactly that. The midweek victory over Coventry came eleven days into a December when all four of our weekend fixtures fall on the Sabbath, and so our surprisingly fruitful month of Sundays continues tomorrow with a trip down to potential playoff rivals Watford. The Hornets been tough opposition for us of late, and both our encounters last season ended 2-2; you have to go back eight years for our last win against them, and all the way to November 2007 for our last triumph at Vicarage Road. It certainly doesn't help matters that Watford have made their home a fortress so far this season, unbeaten there in their last thirteen outings with clean sheets in eight of them, including the last four in a row. No visiting team has penetrated the Watford armour in WD18 since 5th October (though naturally, it begs the question whether slipping through might be a bit easier if they relocated to WD40). But as we all know, Albion have been equally tough customers on the road, and no other team in the division can boast as little as one defeat on their travels so far. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object? Maybe not; with Albion's injury woes affecting our ability to rotate coming into the crowded Christmas schedule, it wouldn't surprise me if there are some tired bodies out there tomorrow, and so Watford have to be favourites. Still, favourite doesn't mean shoo-in, and the Baggies may have some crucial wind in their sails from the Coventry win. Following it up with a draw here would be a decent consolidation. RE: Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - Baggievicar - 16-12-2024 What a lively thread! Sums it up, I guess. On to Bristol City. RE: Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - BaggieSteve - 16-12-2024 Disappointing result but not wholly unexpected. We’ve been riding our luck for a while, combine that with Watford’s excellent home record and a defeat was always a distinct possibility. Can I also add that I love Ska’d’s illustrations, just fantastic RE: Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 16-12-2024 (16-12-2024, 12:07)BaggieSteve Wrote: Disappointing result but not wholly unexpected. Any end to your talents? What you like upfront? (football, I mean ) RE: Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - Salopbaggie - 16-12-2024 (16-12-2024, 10:17)Baggievicar Wrote: What a lively thread! That said the contributions have been falling off for some considerable time now and the prediction league gets considerably more contributions than anything related to the Albion. It pains me to say because like many on here, I go back to the BBC606 then New606 and it is so sad to watch what was once such a thriving board and forum appear to be slowly dying. I use AI to create the images and then do some minor editing work on them, so there's minimal talent required from me, beyond dreaming up the style and subject of the picture in the first place. I've dabbled a bit in creating music the same way, there's an example of my efforts here: As for the match, I think the result was on the cards, but the midweek win means we can afford to take it in our stride; numerically we're better off for having won one and lost one than we would have been for continuing our previous streak and drawing both. RE: Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 17-12-2024 Thanks, Ska'd, but I'm probably too computer-illiterate! Tried twice now to 'play' it, but nothing happens. RE: Watford vs WBA - Match Thread - Baggievicar - 17-12-2024 I really like that, Ska'd - though I'm not too sure about rhyming 'Bromwich' with 'promise'! If memory serves, Oleta Adams once rhymed "caravan" with "Arab man", so I like to think I'm learning from the greats |
