Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - theo_luddite - 04-04-2024 The Sir Alf McGalphsmiths Stadium Roll up for "The All 'Mercan Experience" You Could Meet Your Love By the Gas Works Wall Dream your Dream By the Old Canal HD1 6PG Kick-off 15:00 UK Time Saturday 06/04/24 Millwall make their 3rd visit to Yorksha in 4 games on Saturday and will be hoping for a better result than in their last two. A opening day win at Boro, and a November win at Wendies (they lost both the home fixtures) were mathed by a mid-March defeat up the A62 and they became the first team to lose to Rotherham on Monday, April 1st. On the tellybox Not showing anywhere at the moment other than iFollow for those in furrin lands. Latest news We're the wrong side of the trap door and you want news? Whatever Kevin the Gerbil said, it doesn't make much difference to the results anyway. Out Injured/Suspended/Isolating Having hurt his back unwrapping a Cadbury's Creme Egg last week, Danny - Sick Note - Ward will need a miracle of Biblical Proportions to play again this season. (Watch him start on Saturday now I've said that). Balker, Hoggy and Lees still out. Rudoni been playing with a tight hamstring apparently but is taking the weekend off to get it rubbed down by Danny Ward. Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame Ward is back training, would you Adam and Eve it? ... don't hold your breath. Last time out It was a slightly improved showing over the Coventry match, but we still snatched our 16th draw of the season from the jaws of victory. Having taken the lead at Stoke just before half-time, we stood and watched their winger curl one in from the corner of the box a few minutes after the restart. We then huffed and puffed and failed to take any of the many (by our standards) chances we created. With Town failing to win and Millwall losing, Rotherham are still in with a mathematical chance of staying up, but to do so, they have to rely on Plymouth, Town and Wendies not reaching 42 points and turning their -49 goal difference into one that is better than Plymouth's current -10. Elsewhere, Wendies came 2nd at Boro, Plymouth lost at home to Brizzle, Brum beat Both Ends, Blackburn won their first game in 10 attempts under "new" head coach John Eustace (appointed 9th February) by hammering 5 past Blunderland. It's only their 2nd win since 12th December (at home to Brizzle) to lift them to 17th. Up in the nose bleeds, the top 3 all won so that stayed "as you were". The next 3 managed one point between them, though Norwich were at Leicester. Coventry followed up their "wonderful win" at ours by losing at home to Cardiff. Go figure !! Music Heaven knows he's miserable now, Morrisey is a Lion's fan Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day also reckons an afternoon out at The Den helped him to understand British culture. Quite .... and the local talent (it's a broad description) includes these guys I've no idea if that's their best effort or not. I haven't listened to all their stuff. The Sack Race Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Plymouth bowled Ian Foster out of the club. So will Colin be coaching them from over his garden fence? Apparently not. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-not-ask-neil-9202404 Phew !!! Tables, Recent Form Four points and a few places between us. Innies and Outies Millwall didn't push the boat out in the January Sales. Who's banging 'em in The Lions have scored 6 fewer than us this season. Pumping high balls in against their defence might be a bit futile however. It looks like Murray Wallace won't play on Saturday though. They can't all lose Rotherham can do us a favour on Friday by continuing their winning run against Plymouth, Wendies go to QPR, Brum go to Leicester, Stoke are home to WBA, Blackburn home to Southampton. In the nosebleeds the return Old Farm Derby match is the early kick-off on Saturday, L666s go to Coventry, and Leicester are home to Brum. We've played 'em before Town have the upper hand here, though you never know which Town or which Millwall will turn up. In 11 home League games this century we've won 8, drawn 1 and lost 2. Next up? We're away to Both Ends on Tuesday. I'll bet themaclad has as much clue as to which version of Preston will turn up as we have of which version of Town we'll see in that one. Then again I recall some Sunday lunchtime U18 Rugby games from when I was a yoof, only we didn't have to stand up on skates. RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - WakeyTerrier - 04-04-2024 Big Kev might have to buy the Gym and Swimming pool just to turn it into a private hospital for all our injured players. I have only one expectation this weekend and that is to sink a few beers down at Magic Rock RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - Lord Snooty - 04-04-2024 My only expectation is that we will lose, playing tippy tappy rubbish against an aggressive Millwall team, who apart from the recent Rotherham defeat, have turned their form around under the returning hero manager. Hope I'm wrong, but I can't see us winning again this season. "Apart from both recent trips to Yorkshire or anywhere else north of Brum" - fixed it for ya Snoots. RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - themaclad - 04-04-2024 Epic thread Theo would take me about two years to do one like that RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - ritchiebaby - 04-04-2024 Theo's trying to overtake Snooty in the War And Peace Fiction awards at the end of the season - imagine having to judge that one. In other sports news, I can only assume that Danny Ward is trying equally hard to overtake Emma Raducanu in the Injured Yet Again awards category. RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - jjamez - 05-04-2024 Well I'm not going, but that doesn't guarantee a win. In fact I can't remember the last time I haven't attended a home game and we've won... RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - theo_luddite - 05-04-2024 You appear to use some of my sauces for your threads themaclad. This is also not quite a copy and paste of an email I send to Town fans across the pond and darn unda (and no I don't mean that Darn Unda that frequented 606 in the day) that have fallen into Town's sticky web - with a little persuation from me. Your local cricket threads are a good read in the summer too. A reminder that life still goes on at a slower pace on some of our Village Greens than in the rest of the mad, mad, mad, world. Never let the truth get in the way of good yarn ritchie. Our politico's wouldn't recognise either anyway which is always worth remembering when you use your votes. Oop's little bit of politics sneaking in there as Ben Elton used to say ... I won't embed this so ignore it if you wish, but change a few names, has anything changed? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptx_H2XWGV8 As the year of reference, back in 1986 at this end of the season, Town were in the same division as ... Norwich Hull Millwall Stoke Leeds Sunderland Blackburn Boro' We finished 16th, 6 points above Carlisle. It was then called Division Two. The following season you could add the relegated ... Ipswich Brum West Brom and the promoted Plymouth to the mix, though Norwich escaped upwards and Boro' headed south. Yes that was the old 2nd Division, now known as The Chumpionship, so no, nowt much has changed. We also parted company with a well loved manager, Mick Buxton, and replaced him with the recently deceased Steve Smith. RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - Lord Snooty - 05-04-2024 Rotherham are down. And that defeat hammers another nail into our coffin. Tomorrow is not just a must win game now, it's a must, must, must, must win game. RE: Toothless Terriers v Lacklustre Lions - 06/April/2024 - jjamez - 06-04-2024 Especially when Brum are playing Leicester, this is a big big opportunity to really drag Millwall and Brum into the more. We've probably got to accept a QPR win today too in order to push Wednesday further down, sorry sco |
