RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 18-07-2023 The thing with women's football which always catches me out is that I tend to estimate the strength or weakness of different countries based entirely on the men's game, and so often it's totally counter-intuitive. You see Argentina up against the likes of Mongolia, back what you assume is the winning horse, then suddenly the commentator pipes up with "how long can these plucky Argentinian underdogs, who'd never seen a football until last Thursday, hang on against the mighty world-conquering Genghisettes?" With that in mind, I'll work on the assumption that England vs Haiti is going to be a white-knuckle ride. RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - Lord Snooty - 20-07-2023 First shock of the tournament in the very first match with the Footy Ferns beating Norway 1-0 for New Zealand's first ever World Cup win. The Norwegians left pining for the fjords. The second shock could be on the cards as well with Ireland holding the Aussies at 0-0 at half time. Shock avoided. 1-0 to the Matilda's. RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 22-07-2023 Slightly unorthodox attacking formation for the USA against Vietnam. Making it very difficult for England. Ht 1-0 to England. RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - Lord Snooty - 22-07-2023 1-0 win, but nothing very impressive. RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - St Charles Owl - 22-07-2023 Expect the statement that its the win and points that are important, and while that is absolutely correct in a World Cup that performance was a bit disppointing. RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - Lord Snooty - 28-07-2023 England v Denmark: 1 Earps 2 Bronze 6 Bright 5 Greenwood 9 Daly 8 Stanway 4 Walsh 10 Toone 18 Kelly 23 Russo 7 James Subs 3 Charles 11 Hemp 12 Nobbs 13 Hampton 14 Wubben-Moy 15 Morgan 16 Carter 17 Coombs 19 England 20 Zelem 21 Roebuck 22 Robinson RE: Women's World Cup 2023 - ritchiebaby - 28-07-2023 Another 1-0 win for England, but they're still not convincing. Still, 1-0 wins for the rest of the tournament will be good enough. |
