Barrow News - themaclad - 09-05-2023 Patrick Brough will leave Barrow this summer after rejecting a new deal, while Josh Kay, Josh Lillis and Josh Gordon are still deciding on offers. Brough, 27, was a regular for Pete Wild's side making 46 appearances this term, and 170 in total since his move from Dundee in the summer of 2019. Striker Gordon, 28, top-scored for the Bluebirds with 15 goals in 42 games. Midfielder Kay, 26, scored six in 38, while goalkeeper Lillis, 35, provided cover to regular choice Paul Farman. Scott Moloney, David Moyo, Mark Ellis, Joe Grayson, Solomon Nwabuokei, Benni Smales-Braithwaite and Pawel Zuk have been released, although the latter two have been invited back for pre-season. Worrall spent six years in the Potteries and has penned a two-year deal at the SO Legal Stadium. The 32-year-old has made nearly 500 appearances in the English Football League , almost half of them for Vale. He began his career at Bury and has also played for Rotherham United, Oldham Athletic, Southend United and Millwall. Worrall came through Bury's youth system and was picked up by Premier League side West Bromwich Albion in 2007, spending three years at The Hawthorns without making a first-team appearance. RE: Barrow News - themaclad - 08-06-2023 Barrow have signed former Everton youngster Courtney Duffus on a one-year deal. The former Yeovil striker was let go by Morecambe at the end of his contract. The 27-year-old played under Barrow boss Pete Wild at Oldham and has also played for Bromley, with spells at Bury, Waterford and Stockport. He is a product of the Cheltenham academy but moved to Everton as a teenager and helped them to the Premier League under-23 title in 2016-17. The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international's two years at Morecambe were badly affected by injury, including a knee ligament problem that required surgery and limited him to a single appearance in League One last season. RE: Barrow News - themaclad - 10-06-2023 Barrow have signed midfielder Kian Spence from FA Trophy winners FC Halifax Town on a two-year contract, for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old played 20 games in the National League and FA Cup last term, but was not involved in the Shaymen's Wembley win over Gateshead. Spence, who began his career at Middlesbrough, played under current Bluebirds boss Pete Wild at Fax. "Every player wants to be playing in the EFL," Spence told the club website. "I'm looking forward to being a part of what is going on at Barrow." Wild added: "When I left Halifax I believed he was one of the brightest talents in the National League and after a tough season last year, I believe we can get Kian back to the levels he showed for me. "He is a creative, athletic central midfielder who can get around the pitch, creating and scoring goals for the team." The 35-year-old provided cover for Paul Farman and Scott Moloney last season, playing five games, and continued the coaching role he has held since 2020. In total he has played 10 games for the Bluebirds, keeping four clean sheets. Lillis played nearly 300 games at Rochdale and also lists Notts County, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and AFC Fylde amongst his former clubs. The 31-year-old made 55 appearances in his two seasons at Vale Park, scoring 15 goals. In his first campaign with The Valiants he scored 13 times and helped them to promotion to League One. After starting his career at Preston, he has played for numerous clubs including Crawley, Fleetwood, Bradford and Carlisle. RE: Barrow News - themaclad - 24-06-2023 Barrow have signed midfielder Dean Campbell on a two-year deal after he was released by Aberdeen. The 22-year-old spent 14 years with his hometown club and made 75 appearances. He spent last season on loan in League Two with Stevenage and played 26 times in all competitions. "Personally, I wanted to come here because it's a team with ambition, but it's also a manager who wants to improve players," he told the club website. The 20-year-old former Republic of Ireland Under-19 international spent last season on loan with Crawley Town in League Two. "The fanbase was something that really stood out to me when I played there last season," he told the club website. RE: Barrow News - themaclad - 12-07-2023 Barrow have signed striker Emile Acquah from National League side Maidenhead United for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old scored 13 goals in 45 league games last season, helping the Magpies to avoid relegation to National League South. Former Southend striker Acquah will return to league football with the fourth-tier Bluebirds, having played in League One and Two with the Shrimpers. As well as centre-forward, Acquah can also play as a winger on either flank. He is the third forward to move to Holker Street this summer, after Jamie Proctor and Courtney Duffus. RE: Barrow News - themaclad - 23-08-2023 arrow have signed former Southampton striker Sam Bellis on a one-year deal after a successful trial. The 20-year-old left the Saints earlier in the summer, having failed to make an appearance for the first team. Before joining Southampton, he spent time in Manchester City's academy, where he worked under Barrow assistant Adam Temple. The Bluebirds are sixth in League Two with seven points from their first four matches of the season. |
