Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - ritchiebaby - 15-09-2022

This year's theme is Flower Of Scotland, with the Thistles from Strathspey, Buckie and Hutchievale as well as Open Goal Broomhill FC and Dundonald Bluebell FC. Last year's featured teams of Hawthorn, Rose and Fairydean are all there too.

For all games this year, there will be no replays with all games being decided on the day by extra-time and penalties, if necessary.

The First Round games will be played over this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the televised game tomorrow night at 7.45pm being between Pollok and Huntly on BBC Scotland (according to the SFA website). Needless to say my BBC Scotland scheduling does not agree, but no doubt many programmes will be moved around at short notice until after Monday.

Nice. Cool

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - ritchiebaby - 19-09-2022

Amongst the fallers at the first fence are two of the thistles, leaving Buckie to represent the Jags, plus the bluebell also going out, but the broom is surviving. The fairies are gone too, but the rose of Linlithgow and the hawthorn of Hill Of Beath are still blooming.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - ritchiebaby - 27-11-2022

Broom have gone, but with their heads held high, only losing to an injury time penalty by League 1 Alloa. Similarly Hawthorn also lost out to League 2 Elgin City by only 1 goal. However the Rose and two Thistles remain to fight another day.

Also through are Drumchapel, University of Stirling and Darvel, each of whom beat League opposition.

Tomorrow night's televised Cup game is Ayr United v Pollok at 7.45pm on BBC Scotland, where another upset just might be on the cards. The Fourth Round Draw, which will include the Premiership teams, will take place immediately after this game.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - Lord Snooty - 27-11-2022

Ayr United v Pollok or Portugal v Uruguay in the sterile world cup? No choice really, is it?

Nowt against Ayr but it'll be twice in just over a week I'll be wanting them to get beat. Tongue

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - Lord Snooty - 28-11-2022

No goals at half time. Pollok started well but their keeper has had to make a few great saves. Ayr should be ahead but for him.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - Lord Snooty - 28-11-2022

Full time 1-0 to Ayr. Fair result.

Oooh. First out. Hibs v Hearts.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - ritchiebaby - 29-11-2022

Fourth Round Draw:

Hibernian v Hearts
Kilmarnock v Dumbarton
Dundee United v University of Stirling
St Mirren v Dundee
Celtic v Morton
St Johnstone v Rangers
Elgin City v Drumchapel United
Partick Thistle v Dunfermline Athletic
Arbroath v Motherwell
Linlithgow Rose v Raith Rovers
Alloa Athletic v Falkirk
Darvel v Aberdeen
Stenhousemuir v Livingston
Hamilton Academical v Ross County
Inverness CT v Queen's Park
Cove Rangers v Ayr United

These ties will be played over the weekend of Saturday 21 January 2023. Of the wee teams, both Drumchapel United and Linlithgow Rose must fancy their chances of progress into the last 16. For the big teams, it's a great chance for Hibs to get rid of Hearts early on, and we could also easily lose Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Rangers and Motherwell from the competition.

RE: Thistle, Broom and Bluebell - ritchiebaby - 18-01-2023

The cooncil telly games this weekend will be Celtic v Morton on Saturday at 12.15pm on BBC One Scotland and Darvel v Aberdeen on Monday at 7.45pm on BBC Scotland. No shocks to see here methinks, but Aberdeen should be wary of a potential banana skin. Darvel have scored 20 goals in 3 games so far, including 5 goals away to League One Montrose.
