Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - theo_luddite - 23-07-2022

New participants are more than welcome. You can put a top limit on the total or offer a one off amount you are prepared to donate if it helps you join in the fun.

TIME TO DIG DOWN THE BACK OF THE SOFA, HAVE A ROOT IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SOCKS & UNDIES DRAWERS AND GIVE YOUR OLD MONEY BOX A SHAKE (AGAIN)

We're off again on our continuing mission to raise funds for hungry kids and the Big Yellow Choppers that are saving lives all over Yorkshire - plus a few in Lancashire, oh and a few Bob for The Jordan Sinnott Foundation too.

£211 was our total last season, a £69 improvement on the season before, thanks in a great part to Town having an unexpected run at the play-offs after 4 miserable seasons at the wrong end of the table. Onwards and upwards folks with an earlier than usual start to the season, another new coach learning on the job and a few new players to pick from.

So we've got five regulars on here and we'd really love to welcome some more on board. I realise money is tighter than ever this year and it's only going to get harder when the price of fuel goes up again. Still, there's far worse off than me and thee and we can do a lot worse than put a decent breakfast in a kids belly before they start their school day.  Thumb up

So how does it work?

Send a reply to the thread and name a player or players, a team or teams, matches between certain teams or any combination you like and what you are willing to pay for each time they score, win, draw, lose, get a card, score/save a penalty, get an international cap, anything, Town related or not. Have a look at how we've mixed up the bag last season- http://www.sportsbabble.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=10564 - and pick your own choice.

The totals are updated after almost every match (if I don't fall asleep for a couple of games or there's just nowt to report). At the end of the season we pay the money we've pledged per point into Just Giving or donation pages for the above charidees. If requested I'll set them up by Christmas so the strain on your wallet/contactless card is spread a tad more thinly. Set your own limit if you wish. You know you won't win owt  for trying but at least you know where your brass is going. If you'd prefer to donate to another charidee - throw it out there.

So what's not to like? New playaz? Old playaz? 6 different clubs to play against? New shirts too, wow. Such a novelty, you'd think we did that every season.

Can we make it past the 1st Round of the EFL Cup 2 seasons running?

You can also have a pop at the World Cup.

Game on.

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - Lord Snooty - 23-07-2022

Ten pounds for every minute that Rolando Aarons gets on the pitch. Whistle

Only kidding.

I'll stick with a pound per EFL Cup goal and FA Cup goal. I'll also stick with a fiver for each Hoggy goal. And I'll do a quid for Holmes, Koroma and Thomas.

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - theo_luddite - 23-07-2022

I reckon your first offer would cost you less but thanks Snoots Laugh

Didn't mean this to be on the end of the OP so moved it to here ...
I've lost two of last seasons opponents and we play all 4 that remain in the first month. So, I'll have a wee change but not much

£1 per point and goal v Smoke-on-Stench, Brum, WBA, Coventry, Red Cards for either team, goals for Tino

(If we draw Direby or Forest in a Cup match I'll throw them back in on the goals scored by Town against them).

I finally fixed a typo too ..... Whistle

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - Amelia Chaffinch - 23-07-2022

£1 for goals from new boys; Connor Mahoney, Yuta Nakayama and Tino Anjorin (tenuous new). All competitions.

£1 for every goal we score whilst wearing the beetroot, purple, grape juice and brilliant white strip. All competitions.

£5 for top 12 after 23 games.

£5 for top 12 at end of season.

£10 if we make the play-offs.

£20 for automatic promotion.

Try fitting all that lot in, theo.  Big Grin Whistle

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - theo_luddite - 23-07-2022

I just love the challenge AmChaff - sooner or later you'll need a spreadsheet entirely of your own. Big Grin

I take it that's the 3rd kit that looks like it would have been all white (cough, spit) until you spilled your borscht soup and beetroot salad dinner all over it when the dog suddenly decided it fancied your left leg more than next doors labrodoodle (can I say that on here?) as you walked to the dinner table, plates in hand.

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - Amelia Chaffinch - 23-07-2022

Yeah, that's the one  Laugh

I've just realised it's beetroot purple and not beetroot, purple.

Beetroot purple, grape juice and brilliant white is obviously a much better choice and not at all sickly.  Doh Laugh

Oh, I forgot the glass of red wine that goes up in the air too but how many hands do you have?

Sorted - simples. Hope you approve when I let the final version loose to the world of the er, big spenders.

Btw - if forgot to mention originally - You can also have a pop at the World Cup, now added.

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - Amelia Chaffinch - 23-07-2022

I'd forgotten one I was going to do...

£1 for everytime Nicholls, or Connell as I like to call him, goes up for a corner.

Snoots has just suggested I do £1 for every yellow Nicholls, or Connell as I like to call him, gets for time-wasting. I had to say no to that. I'm not made of money.

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - theo_luddite - 23-07-2022

How am I supposed to monitor that one? I don't go to or watch every game, I have a (mostly mid-week) day off now and again. I doubt it would show in the BBC stats that I mostly use, plus a few others just in case.

Even Snoots wouldn't go for that on his prediction board.

RE: Players for Pounds 2022-2023 - Amelia Chaffinch - 23-07-2022

No need to get ratty, theo. I withdraw the suggestion.
