FA Cup Connections game - Amelia Chaffinch - 30-12-2014

I will start with a statement and you have to come up with a connection to it, as does the next person and so on.

Huddersfield Town won the FA Cup in 1922.

That could be followed by ...

The British Prime Minister in 1922 was David Lloyd George and Charlie George scored a goal for Arsenal in the 1971 FA Cup final.

So now you have to come up with any connection to that statement and bring it back round to the FA Cup.

Arsenal's opponents in that match were Liverpool who had Emlyn Hughes in their line up. He went on to be a captain on Question of Sport.

Emlyn Hughes only won 1 FA Cup with Liverpool. It was against Newcastle in 1974

Liverpool's Kevin Keegan scored twice in that match. He later went on to play for and manage Newcastle.

Current Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew, has lost 2 FA Cup finals, once as a player with Crystal Palace and once as a manager with West Ham.

West Ham United were defeated in the first Wembley final in 1923 - the White Horse Final - by Bolton Wanderers.

The White Horse pub in Leeds Road, Huddersfield has been renamed Yorkshire Sports Bar. Hopefully, as a sports bar, they will be showing live football on big screens, one of which this weekend could be the Arsenal v Hull City match which is a repeat of the 2014 final which Arsenal won 3-2.

Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-2 in the 1979 FA cup final. Alan Sunderland scored the winner.

In 1973 Sunderland won the FA Cup with Ian Porterfield scoring the winning goal against L**ds!!

Sunderland play Leeds in the third round of this year's competition. It's one of three fixtures in this round that once were final ties. The others are Arsenal v Hull City and Wimbledon v Liverpool.
