Tommy Docherty RIP - 0762 - 01-01-2021 https://thecelticstar.com/tommy-docherty-rip/ This is a great tribute to one of the most well known Scottish managers who played out his early footie career with his lifelong love, Celtic FC. But he became a ubiquitous footie figure in English footie with an array of English FA clubs associated with him as a player and a "maverick style of manager" who could compete with the likes of Ex Man City "maverick"/cigar smoker, Malcolm Alison. Also briefly spent a period managing the Scotland team before moving on again. A man with many interesting and humorous anecdotes attached to him in a colourful career that lit up footie for about two decades. And what a great age of 92 yoa to finally bow out. RIP RE: Tommy Docherty RIP - hibeejim21 - 02-01-2021 Another big character from Scottish football leaves the stage. His autobiography was everything you would want from a football story, just let's say he lived a full life Some of his best stories were from when he was growing up in the gorbals. I also laughed like xxxx when some hun hack asked him if Brian Laudrup was the best player in the world. He replied "He's no even the best player in his ain house". A nice tribute to him from the comedian Dara O'braian on twitter. An awfy man. RIP Doc. |
