Lets not forget the great delusion of Brexit eh!! A big reminder of unfolding events that were predicted on this Sb board a long, long time ago with many other independent economical experts doing likewise - nobody heeded the warnings for unscrupulous and extreme and political reasons!! The rest is history and it aint over yet btw!!

Its taken hundreds of billions out the UK economy, made trade with the worlds largest bloc on our own doorstep a lot harder, made labour shortages even more severe and severely antagonised our closest neighbours and allies.....and for what benefit?

Unless you count keeping the tories in power as one the answer is none.

Even wetherspoons are closing a hundred pubs ffs.

RE: Truss Watch Activated - theo_luddite - 15-10-2022

I might suggest the Wetherspoons thing is as much a Covid reaction as it is Brexit but yes, if we aren't as prepared as we once were to go down the pub, why would we expect our neighbours to come over and visit them either as a result of either or both?

So, after letting the two unsupervised kids loose in the sweet shop, and after they finally drank all the Kool-Aid, we are getting (most of) Sunak's policies but with Truss in charge (well. for. now).

Pity about the billions of our £'s she's spaffed against the wall in her month of madness, Im sure we can print more to replace them, but she is continuity Bodgit (in a skirt), and it's really the BBC's fault, not hers for talking the country down.

With Hunt more or less trashing everything that Truss used to get herself elected as Tory Leader and hence PM, she's now in that position under false pretences and quite honestly has only one option left. Hell she hasn't had chance to change the gold wall paper yet.

What you have to understand is that Capitalism is like an onion with evil intentions. You may appear to escape one layer by sloughing off the suffocating maternalism of the mummy-eu-superstate, but you are still going to be tied like some kinda bondage dolly by all the restraints knotted tight by advanced international monopoly-Capitalism.

Brexit was just change, it wasn't some kind of revolution. You think Tories would have celebrated it if the change it represented was even close to fundamental? Of course, they wouldn't. It was one infantile step, a little bit of freedom they thought would be to their advantage.

Scotland wants to escape its oppressors, but bizarrely it lusts after leaping into bed with a new set of oppressors it blindly finds far more attractive. I'll never get that.

The dimly-lit Truss spent weeks saying what she intended to do. She was warned what would happen. Kwarteng did it for his dough-faced sponsor anyway. The warning came true. International Capital showed he just how completely it might fcku with us. First thing to do is sack the brainy black boy. Second burn all HIS policies in case any memory of him might survive. Third ensure the poor pay in order to keep the rich in power and living in the manner to which they are accustomed. Brexit and Mini-budgets are no more than hiccups. It will take an earthquake.

Capitalism's first and most important step is to recruit you so that you cannot but think like one of its own. Once you are talking like a capitalist you are part of the problem as far as I'm concerned. Focusing on Brexit is like counting the number of throw-ins at a football match when you're 6-0 down.

The main alternative hasn't worked out to well either, or the corrupt mix of the two whether in China or the bombastic (Whistle) hell hole that is Russia (or USSR as it was before).

I'd also say that while Labour are making noises about wanting a GE calling asap, they might want to be careful of what they wish for. If and when the lights go out this winter, as they might well do, the Government in charge at the time will carry the can for that one, even if we all know what the actual causes were.

After 2 days of denying that pensions would go up at the rate of inflation, the liars apprentice has said she will stick by the triple lock. So will the benefit payments of those out of work, or unable to work do the same? Or will they still be cast as scrounging, lazy, useless bastards who deserve to rot in hell as the millionaires become billionaires on the back of Government handouts and tax breaks?

Meanwhile - still doing hand break turns???

12:33pm
PM’s spokesman: The PM will this afternoon be visiting a British firm that specialises in automative (sic) technology “to hear from the kind of businesses driving UK innovation and growth”

1:44pm
Downing St tells journalists the visit is off

"Automotive" (if only they could spell it right) and "driving". Who's doing the ironing, sorry irony?

I guess she doesn't have a combined Lauretta the Lab Rat and Betty the Builder cosplay uniform yet. Kit shortages at the NHS and all that being unable to supply her, even more so with Jeremy the *unt in charge again.

Oh and the other thing the Eton mob are now pissing themselves laughing about.

After all the shit in the press about how the Eton elite run the country for the benefit of them and their mates, they set up Dizzy Lizzy to fail, just to show what happens when you let the other half from the Comprehensives have ago. That she doesn't realise just how bloody thick she is (but they do) is something we'll all be paying for, for quite a long while.

RE: Truss Watch Activated - 0762 - 19-10-2022

Add to that the "breaking news" just now that the Home Sec, Suella Braverman, is removed (resigned) from office to be replaced by Grant Shapps. I think this is more confirmation of Truss losing her power to Jeremy Hunt. Re the "triple lock" fiasco, this is a Tory govt that is making things up "off the hoof", a shambles, a totally dysfunctional Brit govt!! Also note the huge threat to people with her energy price cap U-turn - a six-month price cap instead of the stipulated two-year price cap? Wowwww!! We need a general election pronto, no more pissing about with a dysfunctional Westminster system of governance and poor accountability!!

Well, that's one dickhead for another but it will be interesting to hear his opinion on Rwanda as a holiday home for those escaping war and the rest of what they used to call home due to famine, war and the rest. So which of the 4 (or is it 6) online Grant Schnapps versions will we actually get in that position? Hope it's one of his cross dressing versions. PMQ's will be more fun at least.
