RE: WBA Transfer Window: (Final Day) Here we go.. - Baggievicar - 19-02-2015

Can we send scouts to watch Ridgewell, Marton Fulop and Fabien de Freitas?
#sabotage Cool

With Dozza scooting off to Norwich, I wonder if we have a first option deal on Martin Olsson coming our way in summer.....  No more Dozza, Mozza & Fozza  Sad

Virgil van Dijk is still on the radar for the summer

Can't see us spending around £7M on a centre back unless JP is planning on spending around £20M+ during the summer Full backs & wingers will be top of the list surely

Maybe we'll be playing with 5 CBs next year. Build up slowly to 11.

Cannot see us playing with more than 10 CB's, surely even TP would put a CB in goal.  Of course I could be wrong Smile

Is that tongue in cheek, Baggievicar, or do we take it you're not a TP fan?

On a slightly seperate tack and not aimed at you, vicar, predictions, please, for when we see the first transfer window comment suggesting either or all of the following:-

We've got countless millions in the bank
We should spend at least £50million.
If we haven't got countless millions in the bank, JP has trousered it.
JP is a miser.
TP buying is poor.
We've no ambition.
We've left it too late.

Partly tongue in cheek. TP's doing the job he was brought in for and I'm glad of that. I'm not a fan of parking the bus.

What is "the job he was brought in for"?

I think someone like Van Dijk is an investment we need to make. Quality, young centre back who has a bit of pace.

McAuley is 35 and will need a long-term replacement and Olsson is ageing and declining pretty rapidly.

Personally I'd let Olsson go and sign someone in the Van Dijk mould. Lescott, Van Dijk, McAuley and Dawson would be a solid 4 centre backs to rely on.
