Lets knuckle down and win some games. Bet365 does not offer odds on Ideye scoring this weekend but the minute they do I am having a tenner on it!

So, all that anticipation is quashed down to just one signing we didn't really need when we were crying out for pacey wingers and a good Arthur (striker)
So much for Pulis' skill in the transfer market. With players turning us down, I wonder if part of the reason is the Pulis Factor?

That's our squad if the Ideye and Dorrans deals are called off. Clear to see where we are severely lacking, as it has been to every single Albion fan for the past 2 and a half years. Shame the various people who have been in charge of transfers in that time are a different kind of special.
DM looks extremely strong, yet Gardner will still end up playing. LM options are pathetic. Fullbacks are fine, unfortunately the two who you would describe as actual fullbacks (Gamboa and Poco) won't get a look in. Can't see Sess playing much under Pulis, despite being our best player. Striking options are thin and lacking goals. We better pray McManaman is amazing and that Ideye can find some kind of form but lack of pace, movement and creativity in the midfield will mean that Ideye will get no service and he can't make chances for himself in the way that Saido does.
We should stay up because I can't find the adjectives to describe how bad the teams below us are, but it won't be much fun to watch.
The main worry for me is that we have managed to turn us from a quality, decent to watch, top 10 side into dour relegation strugglers in just 4 transfer windows. So it's hard to be optimistic about next season.

We are NOT a joke club, and if you've had enough, then the answer for you is very simple - either cowboy up (as Frank Skinner once said) or stay away.
Compared to previous January transfer windows, this one's been a success with McManaman and Fletcher in.
We've got other good midfielders in Yacob, Mulumbu and Morrison, and Sessegnon is a cracking player.
Martin Olsson will regret wanting a relegation clause putting into a contract with us. He's still a Championship player, he's in no position to pick and choose or make that sort of demand.
We need to play Pocognoli or Baird at LB, Lescott at CB and if Big Vic continues scoring we will survive - there are definitely three teams in the PL who are worse than us - Leicester, QPR, Villa and Burnley.
We can rebuild properly in the summer.

I recall someone on old 606 in January 2009 (honestly can't remember who) having a proper wobbler at the end of the transfer window, declaring that after decades of loyal support they'd finally had enough, and wouldn't put up with any more shit off this club because we'd reached an all-time low signing some player off a YouTube video who hadn't even been watched by our manager, and it just wasn't good enough.
As it happens, the player in question was Youssouf Mulumbu.
So yes, I'm inclined to take fan meltdowns with a pinch of salt. No doubt six years ago we'd have been overjoyed to have "only" signed a 31-year-old Champions League winner and a 23-year-old FA Cup winner in the transfer window, and I really do hope that the additions of Fletcher and McManaman, combined with the flair of Sessegnon, will give Berahino, Big Vic and even Ideye fresh ammunition to work with.
However, that's a best case scenario. Failure to buy another winger and a decent support striker (let alone an actual goalscorer to take the pressure off Saido!) has made the next three and a half months so much more of an uphill struggle than they needed to be. We SHOULD have enough to stay up, but if we get hit by injuries, that relegation zone will be yawning wide behind us.
I'll be behind the boys every step of the way, same as always (Dorrans and Ideye will particularly need support and encouragement having been shown the door and then yanked back in), but we really can't ignore the fact that the club have been their own worst enemy again in this transfer window. They haven't given Pulis the necessary tools, just as they didn't give Mel the necessary tools, or even Clarke when we were on such a high. I do hope we can survive and have that proper rebuild in the summer, but at the moment I can't shake the feeling that we're back to the old "semper te fallant" days again.

There maybe doom and gloom merchants,or happy clappers amongst the Albion fans,but we have to remember that without the support of the fans,we would have no Club.
Over the past couple of seasons we,the Supporters have had hardly anything to cheer about either on or off the pitch.Yet,we still continue to support our Team.I expect to see us pulling together again as we get over yet another disappointing transfer window.This forum provides that avenue.I don't mind posters having a go,they are entitled to,but I expect them all to be here in months to come,still supporting the Club no matter what! We have signed Mac and Fletcher.I can remember the times we were signing players like Williams and Townsend.We have come a long way in the past 10 years or so,I cant believe anyone at the Club wants us to lose our Premiership place,so I am sure the powers that be did their best! I suppose the real question is,are the powers that be good enough? Ashworth was a massive loss to us and no one who has been bought in to do his job has come anywhere near the success we had in previous recruitment targets.
Peace and Pullis have not yet got it right on or off the field.We have two targets left,have a good run in the FACup and stay in the Premiership.Like it or not,we have to back the present playing staff and Management Team to get us through the rest of the season. COYB
