RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - madsteve - 03-03-2015 The best songs come from the terraces. Someone tries something out & it takes off. I dislike these efforts to create something because they end up like this with no distinct tune & a bunch of cliches just lumped together. The best anthems are ones that take an existing famous tune & either keep it like Liverpool with You'll Never Walk Alone or adapt the words to suit. The best tunes are simple ones. I don't see Hi Ho Silver Lining as an anthem. We sing it but so do several other clubs and we certainly weren't the first. Waterfront was associated with us but we kind of gave that up by resting it for about ten years. RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Thurnscoe_OWL - 03-03-2015 I wish "singing the blues" was sang more often but not at home with the band who play it out of time and out of tune RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - St Charles Owl - 03-03-2015 Singing the blues is probably as close as we have to an actual anthem, particularly after Terry Curran recorded it and released it as a single!! RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - peiowl - 03-03-2015 "And our friends were all aboard Jim Mccalliog, David Ford And the band began to play.. WEDNESDAY!!!!" You'll ever come up with a song as good as that one. (02-03-2015, 23:21)St Charles Owl Wrote: Take a look at this, it has been suggested on Owlstalk that this should be our new anthem!! I quite like it. It's shit RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - madsteve - 04-03-2015 Cannot help but notice how many former OWLS are getting on the score sheet these days. In the last four days, Antonio has scored twice & Afobe has scored twice. Other scorers include Madine, Lavery (twice), Lewis Baker, Mike Jones & Barry Corr. Really feel that if we had Antonio & Afobe (in addition to Keane & McGugan) then we would get automatic promotion next season. Add Tom Soares to that list. Brunt got an assist and Mark Reynolds gave away a penalty.
