Brilliant

I think you need to practice what you preach and realise that not all my posts are a dig at you PEI. It was said in jest, hence the Whistle smiley but if you want to think something deeper is going on go right ahead. You could also try playing some Black Sabbath tracks backwards, there could be some satanic messages in there somewhere Laugh

Pei, I only have one word for you "Eh!!"  Of course you will get that I am sure being Canadian!!

Seriously though, Maddix's "condescending" remark was definitely made in jest, made clear by the use of the smiley.  We all have to be careful not to take what ourselves and especially what others say too seriously, this is an internet forum, things will get typed that can easily be taken out of context as to their meaning.  Lets err on the side of assuming the meaning is a good one or an attempt at humour and not malicious!!

Anyway, my experience of you lot tells me that when you have something to say that is not in jest it is usually very obvious!!!  In Imre's case it will generally look like this - "You ******* **** how dare you ******* say that, *****." Big Grin

Glad to see you're a born again poster Madddix and I look forward to many light hearted exchanges with you. Who knows? We might get to like each other again. Whistle Whistle Laugh Laugh

On a more serious vein SCO (how could it get any more ridiculous than the latest tete a tete avec Maddix?), I think it depends on how long a person has been over here. I imigrated to Canada in '69, so I've been here now 46 years. I am Canadian. If you'd have asked me during the first 5 years I was here what my nationality was I'd have said British. But England is like a foreign country to me now. When I go home to Sheff, it's changed so much, especially the downtown. I can't identify with it. And walking around town, you're just as likely to hear a cockney or a Scottish accent as a Sheffield one. Cheesecakes and brownies have replaced Sally Lunns and Eccles cakes. Pork pies are hard to find and fish and chips , at least what I had, were not good at all. I had to go to Aberdeen to find good ones. So, in another 2r55778 years time you may find yourself rooting for the US of A - only the Brits call it "America." Whistle Whistle Whistle

What's for tea tomorrow Thurny ? I'm getting fed up with sirloin steak Doh can I have scampi or summat ? Whistle

Pei, to a degree I completely understand where you are coming from. I have been here nearly 14 years and am completely immersed in US sports and the way of life but I am still English. I support the US team in any sport but not when they play England!!

As regards Sheffield, it's so different for me as well, so I can imagine it's a new world for you, but as you called it, it's still home!! Had I not been such a big Owls fan though I think I would be far less in touch with home. I have a Wednesday 'Til I Die sticker on the back of my car, and always will!!!

You can't go from sirloin to scampi!!!!  That's like going from King to pauper!!  Try a stuffed pork loin or rack of ribs before you skip all the way to scampi!
