The ladies have done more for football than the men's national team the last couple of years. They deserve praise for that. What a very sad story attached to the Spanish captain and winning goal scorer, Olga Carmona - a bitter-sweet moment to discover that her father had passed days before this World Cup final kicked off in Sydney. It was certainly a huge family decision to not inform her of this awful news. This is another one of those occasions when one can just comment that the importance of any sport or sporting occasion kinda "pales into insignificance" when far more important emotive issues like this one suddenly arise. |
