RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Statesideowl - 09-05-2023 Right joke init, Charlie. Whenever Wednesday finally get there it's a different story. Like finishing 3rd with 96pts and you just know next seasons winner will get 92pts again. Posh is going to be a tough one but they've lost a fair few this season so are far from invincible. It's just Moore I've no faith in. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Imre varadi - 09-05-2023 Don't worry about the semi ..worry about the bottlers that might not turn up at Wembley again with Mr bottle captain !!! RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Was Wereham Owl - 09-05-2023 Well, here we go ... fingers crossed for the playoffs !!!! Hey up Lazarus wtf have you been RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Statesideowl - 15-05-2023 The Club's just released a statement regarding racist abuse towards the buffoon on social media. They've banned the individual and are going to press charges, it's a Wednesday fan. Not what we need going in to the game and there's a chance this now makes Moore unsackable. This says plenty also.. https://www-examinerlive-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/silence-sheffield-wednesday-players-deafening-26918322.amp?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQGsAEggAID#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16841729462779&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.examinerlive.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fnews%2Fsilence-sheffield-wednesday-players-deafening-26918322 RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - St Charles Owl - 15-05-2023 Was bound to happen sooner or later, either a keyboard warrior whose parents didn't send him to bed early enough, or a grown man who can't handle his beer and his true feeling finally come out. Either way good riddance to the scum he is!! Not convinced about the players talking to the media. Definitely didn't want to hear from any of them straight after the game. Just take one slip up and either you give the opposition ammunition or you alienate the fans even more. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Washington - 15-05-2023 Well the fault mainly lies with the players too. They failed to show up at FGR and Burton and a win in either of those would have gotten us autos. I wonder if having so many players out of contract is a key issue since whichever league we would be in for 23/24 a lot of them would be on their bikes and maybe causes a lack of focus late on in the season if they are wondering about moving house kids schools etc. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - St Charles Owl - 15-05-2023 (15-05-2023, 21:22)Washington Wrote: Well the fault mainly lies with the players too. The out of contract thing could go either way for me, Ipswich have 8 players OOC and Plymouth have 11, slightly less than us but didn't seem to affect them. We do need to stop this cycle of every two years seeing half the squad leave though. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Statesideowl - 15-05-2023 The players simply aren't motivated by DM. I can't recall one game where the players have come on to the field absolutely revved up to play. The players actually look more nervous or disinterested. There's also the enormous issue with the basics. The inability to control the ball or even pass to each other. Top that off with chance after chance going begging. Ipswich and Plymouth always looked fired up and the players work hard for each other. We go missing, leave gaps and make the same continual mistakes after huffing and puffing for 30 minutes. I really do expect he'll set up the same on Thursday. Playing cautiously as if time isn't of the essence. You can't start a game 4-0 down and focus on defence. That clearly didn't work last game anyway, nor did his team talk. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Washington - 15-05-2023 (15-05-2023, 22:31)Statesideowl Wrote: The players simply aren't motivated by DM. But SS most of the squad are mature not 18/19 and if they haven’t learned to do the ‘basics’ by now then no amount of technical training is going to help. Also there has to be some on field motivation and I don’t think BB can do that in the manner that Loovens used to. Where DM does fail is neither having a sound plan on how we should play to the strength of the squad and let other teams worry about that and then options BC and D if the opposition manger figures out to negate plan A. The loss of Byers was major since everything is now slowed down by having to go through BB just like when Joey used to do the 5 yd passes to him in the championship. Then in terms of forwards Smith and Gregory can’t compete for pace with younger defenders and although the intent was to inject pace with Mighten and Wilks the former was bobas and Wilks has been unfit or injured most of the season. We need an overhaul that brings in promising early 20’s players including some PL ones on loan. All that said 96 points in any other season would have been OK and that FGR game was the nail in the coffin. |
