RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - drewks - 28-07-2015

Chill, chaps - this is the way of it for most clubs of our size and spending power. As has been said many, many times before, it's the stupidity of the window & start of the season, and players & agents that dictate that most signings will be done at this time of year.
Other clubs MAY have signed players before, but THIS is when most will do their business.

It ain't the club's fault, it's the way it works.

It's been a pleasure to watch James Chester play for #hcafc for 4½ years. Seldom have we been so desperately sorry at a player's exit.

@Gingerzola Nice part of the world! Will keep an eye on JC, he deserves to play at the top level. Best for the new season!

Nick Barmby once described James Chester as a "Rolls Royce" of a player. Fantastic centre half. One of the best players seen at #hcafc

The Hull fans seem to rate him from Beefy's post (welcome back) and this: http://www.not606.com/threads/city-transfer-thread.302198/page-227

It's that time of the year when I make an appeal to those 'guests' to sign up and take part ..... Surely by now you know we don't bite

Really  Wink

The bit in RED is interesting me on Sako,
So we have agreed a deal but waiting on Phillips or Antonio ?
Could lose Sako if that's the case, We will sign you Bakery if we don't get the others ?
Dangerous  Sad

summary from the B'ham mail:

West Brom were today poised to sign Hull’s James Chester for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old Wales centre-back has been courted by a number of Premier League clubs this summer.

Chester has left Hull City’s training camp in Austria for talks with Albion who are ready to close the deal.

Chester will represent an ambitious arrival and the next generation of centre-back with Jonas Olsson, Joleon Lescott and Gareth McAuley all past 30.

Albion have also held productive talks with free agent Bakary Sako and a deal remains in place but they have missed out on Abou Diaby.

Nevertheless the Baggies are poised to cross the finishing line with at least one and perhaps a number of deals, many that have escaped the media’s attentions altogether.

Tony Pulis’ men head for Walsall tonight with only £1.5 million new addition James McClean on view for a sold-out away following to view from the squad that ended last season in defeat at Arsenal.

Sako is one target that Pulis and Richard Garlick have re-visited with neither QPR nor Nottingham Forest wanting to enter into dialogue over Matt Phillips or Michail Antonio.

It is understood that both Sako and Albion have put the foundations of a financial package in place that could be activated at any time by Albion.

Much will now depend on whether Albion get any indication from QPR or Forest at a wish to compromise and accept what would still be sums of around £7 million for Phillips, and £5m for Antonio.

Would be happy if the Chester deal goes through, he's light years better than some of the other mediocrity we've been linked with such as Clarke from the Villa.

Defends well, decent on the ball, chips in with some goals and the right age.

Our summer recruitment has been shambolic so far but this move would be a step in the right direction.

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - betterthanbaird - 28-07-2015

One thing about Chester, he's quite short for a centre-back, less than 6 foot. Thought it'd be worth mentioning.

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - BC Baggie - 28-07-2015

Team for man city ?

Myhill

Dawson
Chester
Lescott
Brunt

Morrison
Yacob
Fletcher
McMannaman

Berahino
Anichebe

Got a feeling we won't go for a sako, I think we'll stick in and play the waiting game on Phillips and Antonio, then return to sako if QPR/Forest refuse to play ball. Either way it's going to take most of August to get the deal done. Until then I'd give McClean more time to settle in/calm down and play Mozza

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - Stairs - 28-07-2015

It seems that Leicester have popped up at the last minute are are matching our offers for both Sako and Chester. Hopefully both players will honour the processes and intent from us and not do the dirty at the last minute - but this is football.

No wonder West Brom try to keep all of their dealings top secret as this is hugely frustrating and very common.

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - silverbaggie - 28-07-2015

OUCH

Being reported that Leicester City are trying to hijack our bid to sign Chester.
They may have offered Hull even more money than we put on the table.

It's getting silly.

Are Leicester the New West Ham ???????
