RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - 0762 - 23-06-2019 Yep! As I previously said - A FARCE!! Start a competition with certain rules and then alter them, mid stream, after certain participants have become casualties!!! Gobsmacking comes to mind!! To be fair they haven’t changed the rule, they have clarified that the yellow card rule will not be applied in a penalty shootout. The keeper still needs to keep a foot on the line, and will still be booked if they don’t but only during the 90 or 120 mins. RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - 0762 - 23-06-2019 A detail in the rule has actually been changed surely!! I agree that the stipulation of the action in this specific case remains the same!! The "farce" is that this tournament should never have been manipulated as a test bed for VAR and it has denigrated this World Cup tournament, which is a great pity! Some of the officiation is absolutely awful and has "damaged" some participating teams quite badly. That is a ridiculous situation TBF!! RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - Lord Snooty - 23-06-2019 Bloody hell! VAR gets one right. RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - Lord Snooty - 23-06-2019 Well England are through. A 3-0 win you can't complain and the ladies performed in a thoroughly professional way. Which can't be said of the officials and the Cameroon players. First of all, the elbow on Parris was a straight red. Unquestionable. The spitting on Duggan. Disgusting, whether she meant it or not. Another red for me. The first goal, was it a back pass? Of course it was. The keeper at fault. If in doubt, give it a clout. Very well placed shot from Houghton. 1-0. Second goal, the liner clearly got it wrong and it was correctly overturned. Duggan on the far side was nowhere near interfering with play. Can't understand why the Cameroonians were so annoyed. I can understand the next controversial decision though. Their disallowed goal. Technically yes it was. But this is one of those that I think should go down to the original decision. If it's that tight a margin, it isn't an obvious refereeing error. Then England go three up with a well worked corner routine and it's game over. There was then the penalty VAR didn't give for the foul on Kirby. Again not a massive error, but as the rules are at the moment, it's a penalty and should've been overturned. Finally the foul on Houghton. Red card all day. Wouldn't make any difference to the result but it was a terrible challenge and the weak referee, who clearly wasn't good enough for this level of the game, let the Cameroon player off. So in conclusion, good English performance. Could've been more and should've had the ref got her red card out. RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - Amelia Chaffinch - 23-06-2019 Disgusted with the spitting. Nice to see them get it back together because, at one point, they were all over the shop. RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - St Charles Owl - 23-06-2019 Good professional performance by England, but they need to keep possession and defend better than this if they want to go much further!! The Cameroon coach was the one setting the tone for his players, he was forever berating the ref and 4th official and even at the end was having a go at Neville as well. Wow, a VAR ruling goes against the French!!!! Not sure about that one, but the French player didn’t touch the ball until after she had clattered into the goal keeper. RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - Lord Snooty - 23-06-2019 Terrible decision. At no point did the keeper have control of the ball. That's a goal. RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - 0762 - 23-06-2019 Totally agree! Nowt wrong with that goal and I'd call it "protection of a goalkeeper", another wrong call!! Also was that Brazilian goalie faking??? The French crowd certainly thought so! And what is this French move gonna produce?GOOAAALLL by Gauvin - at long last, justice done, 1-0 to France and "two fingers to VAR"!! It's OK when you are the beneficiary of VAR but not the other way around and it is a wrong decision!!!!! RE: Women's World Cup 2019 - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 24-06-2019 I honestly thought Cameroon were just going to storm off and forfeit the game at 2-0. Never in all my days have I seen a team have a five-minute-long group discussion in the centre circle when they're supposed to be kicking off. And that dire ref just let it happen, as she did everything else all afternoon. |
