RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - Dingle-Dingle - 17-07-2015

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, 24, will not play in Friday's friendly against Sporting Braga in Portugal with his £32.5m move to Liverpool set to be completed. (Daily Mirror)

Villa boss Tim Sherwood will target Tottenham striker Emanuel Adebayor, 31, to replace Benteke. (Birmingham Mail)

Should Benteke join Liverpool, it would free up striker Rickie Lambert, 33, to leave Anfield for West Brom. (Daily Mirror)

Everton are interested in signing Manchester United defender Jonny Evans, 27. (Manchester Evening News)

Former Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez has tweeted about his recovery from testicular cancer, saying "I think that, really, it made me a better person. Now I care more about the little things."............ Made I chuckle that did.

Another old sweat then. DD Confused Confused

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - Salopbaggie - 17-07-2015

Evening Mail "speculating I hope", that Villa and Leicester are willing to stump up the £10 mil for Matt Phillips.

Not sure whether to be pi55'd off or just lmao off at them.

How is this for good up to date reporting from Sky's website today at 3.21

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has been linked with a number of wide players, including Wigan’s James McClean and QPR’s Matty Phillips

(hmm bit late on McClean, Rupert)

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - BaggieMan - 17-07-2015

Off-topic I know, but you can hardly blame England...

The track at Lords is a 'Made in Heaven' wicket for batters offering no help for bowlers and only a couple of half chances all day. Whoever won the toss was going to benefit. Aussies will declare around 600, hopefully the wicket will hold up for us to put in a reasonable reply and it will be a draw. Wicket breaks up, we've lost it.

Whistle

Is it me?
For the life of me, I can't understand us letting Samaras go, as we have today, without getting at least one replacement sorted BEFORE. We did this in January too; I realise that it's a statement of how TP DOESN'T rate him,  but at least he's an option if he's still our player. We were so short of forwards last year, and we're not exactly overfloverflowing with them now.
Hopefully now GS's wages are freed up there will be some activity soon in that department to take the weight off Saido; if not I fear for him AND us  Confused

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - Stairs - 17-07-2015

Problem is, we (the club) do not tell people what we think and how we are going about our business. All very secretive.

I am just as frustrated when I see big deals or medium deals being done. But I count to ten and hope that there is a method and cunning plan in play.

Hopefully we will soon start accumulating some players.

Letting Samaras go without a replacement is no big deal as far as I am concerned as he was never really a player we used. If Carlton Cole joins in a few weeks then that more than replaces him. Even if it is as a squad player, league cup run-out and bench warmer.

There's no benefit Pulis holding onto a player he doesn't want and won't pick. He's still got Saido, Ideye and Big Vic he can rotate. I was never fussed about Samaras in the first place, and he didn't pull up any trees in Saudi Arabia either. As you say, he frees up some wages.

RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window - tidy - 18-07-2015

Samaras should never have been signed.

I've said this on many occasions and sometimes I've been shot at. TP seems to agree with me though.

Hopefully that's the last of last years extraordinary transfer dealings, gone.

Lots of talk about us not signing anyone but for what positions are we short?

For me, key players are:

Foster
G Mac
Lescott
Fletcher
Yacob
Morrison
Brunt
Berahino

Where do people think we need to strengthen?

Tidy, for a start you have named 8 players as 'key' so we are missing 3 straight away. We need to strengthen at:

RB,LB  another centre half as GMAC and Lescott getting on now, 2 strikers, maybe 2 wingers., that's 7 I can think of and we need maybe more to have a good enough Squad because that's what the Premier league is all about, not the 11 but the entire squad. Some players we signed haven't been given a fair crack IMO but i don't watch them train day in day out so I have to trust TP's Judgement.

But your list of players certainly aren't going to set the league on fire without some quality added and unfortunately half of the rest of the current squad aren't good enough so need to be shipped out and replaced.

As for Samaras I'm on the fence to be honest, scored for fun in the SPL but I think I could to be honest so probably the right decision to get rid. Big Vic needs to go ,Sess doesn't fit and Ideye hasn't come up to scratch (Hoping we keep him and he does), I like Poco too and can't see what he did wrong to be honest, works hard, great tackler, can get forward, Gamboa not given a chance.

Out of your list my key players would be Jimmy Morrison, Lescott, Foster (although Boaz outshone him) Berahino. I'm not that impressed with Fletcher either, didn't do any better than Mulumbu (A mistake to let him go).

I'm rambling now but I could go on BUT just my opinion, we all see things differently Thumb up
