Ireland aiming to join Scotland in the next round, started well but then hit a brick wall mid-innings. Were lucky to scrape an extra couple of runs off a comedy of errors at the end, lifting them up to 125-8, which will be a tough score to defend but at least gives them a glimmer of hope.

Curtis Campher has Craig Williams caught for 15, Namibia 25-1 in the sixth over. 101 needed off 89 balls.

Campher now has Zane Green caught for 24, Namibia 73-2 in the fourteenth over. 53 needed off 40 balls, Wiese the new man at the crease, Ireland need rid of him quickly.

Ball clips the off-stump of Erasmus at 80mph but the bails stay on. Wiese merrily teeing off down the other end. 31 needed from 28, not looking like Ireland's day.

Namibia wrap it up with an over and a half to spare. They'll go through to Scotland's Super Six pool, provided Sri Lanka don't take an unlikely hammering against Netherlands.

Netherlands have given up

44 all out

RE: ICC T20 World Cup 2021 - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 22-10-2021

44 all out, only narrowly avoiding their lowest ever T20I score of 39, also against Sri Lanka in the 2014 tournament. Last one shouldn't even have been a wicket, LBW going a mile down leg, but Van Meekeren didn't even bother reviewing. The Dutch really do want to get on that plane home.

Week One Roundup C

Joining Scotland in Pool 2 of the Super Twelves are Namibia, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh add to the pressure in Pool 1, where England begin their campaign tomorrow versus West Indies. Meanwhile, the Scots get a well-earned rest before resuming on Monday against Afghanistan in the first of what they must regard as two potentially winnable matches in Week Two.

In comparison to the rest of the Netherlands batting line-up, Max O'Dowd's positively Tendulkarian two runs versus Sri Lanka take him to the end of the prelims at the top of the run chart, still shadowed by Oman's Jatinder Singh who also had a final game to forget. They'll almost certainly be overtaken in the coming week by the raft of batsmen trailing them who remain in the tournament, with Shakib Al Hasan finally finding form, Gerhard Erasmus knocking a match-winning half-century versus Ireland, and Richie Berrington continuing to clear the ropes in the Scottish middle order, while David Wiese completes the half-dozen players to make it to three figures thus far. With the ball, three teams getting themselves bowled out in the last couple of days has changed the face of the rankings, with Shakib helping himself to four scalps against Papua New Guinea, Scotland's Josh Davey bagging three against Oman, and Sri Lanka flooding the table with names following their demolition of the Dutch.

Leading Run-scorers

1. Max O'Dowd (NED) - 123
2. Jatinder Singh (OMA) - 113
3. Shakib Al Hasan (BAN) - 108
4. Gerhard Erasmus (NAM) - 105
5. Richie Berrington (SCO) - 103

Leading Wicket-takers

1. Shakib Al Hasan (BAN) - 9
2. Maheesh Theekshana (SRI) - 8 [for 45]
3. Josh Davey (SCO) - 8 [for 67]
4. Lahiru Kumara (SRI) - 7
5. Wanindu Hasaranga (SRI) - 6

Are the West Indies the Netherlands in disguise?

RE: ICC T20 World Cup 2021 - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 23-10-2021

Windies 55 all out, their second-lowest total in T20Is and lowest in the World Cup. Chris Gayle the only batsman to reach double figures with a run-a-ball 13. England 5-0 in their reply.

Made hard going of that in the end with four wickets lost, but the win's in the bag. Good way to exorcise the ghosts of 2016, and shame Stokesy wasn't around to take part.

Do have to wonder a bit about the condition of the pitches; South Africa and Australia both struggled earlier in the day, there have been teams bowled out left, right and centre, and we've barely seen a proper T20 score on the board all tournament. Low-scoring matches can be a riveting watch when they're close, but ideally you want a decent mix at a major tournament.
