RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - St Charles Owl - 10-08-2018 (10-08-2018, 01:50)Imre varadi Wrote: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/luhukay-was-unaware-of-the-restriction-on-sheffield-wednesday-transfers-1-9293780 well hes either proper stupid a liar or getting his excuses ready when he finally gets the sack around the new year when we are fighting for survival ! I'm not sure anyone new we would go into one in April, everyone figured the summer would be difficult but not April and certainly not in January when he joined us. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - peiowl - 10-08-2018 I’m glad he hasn’t sold FF and Bannan. So there. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Owlkev71 - 14-08-2018 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888 While some teams in the lower leagues cant pay wages, MADNESS! RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Statesideowl - 14-08-2018 Thing of the past, fans. Clubs are turning away from us. Typical business mentality. They look at it on paper, what's generating revenue? Tv more than fans.. xxxx the fans then RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Washington - 14-08-2018 That explains why the PL clubs can offer cheaper seat prices. Unless there's a better distribution of the TV money its only going to get worse and even more closed shop for the 'have's' who will legislate and conspire to remain that way. RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Statesideowl - 14-08-2018 It's already pretty much sewn up. It's just not possible for Club's like Citeh to be caught financially. Don't think anyone is expecting the first option, so it will have to be the second one. I think if rumors of bids for some players this summer were correct then Chansiri is gambling a bit by not selling in the hope that in the first half of the season we either do well and keep a promotion push alive or at the very least Forestieri gets into double figures in goals and he becomes a 15m target for a struggling PL team. If we sell FF for this sort of money, and he has 2 years left on his contract so its possible if he performs well, then we will see 15m go straight into the accounts for this season and that on its own would see us get back inside the P&S limits. Wouldn't allow us to spend much but would greatly improve the financial situation. Of course it will weaken the team greatly to lose him but he is really the only big enough asset we have currently. We have seen club after club have to do this same thing each season in the Championship from Brighton to Forest to Derby and to Brentford, its the only way to have a promotion push and stay within the limits. Our biggest mistake was buying players who had lower sell on values, we didn't sign enough promising youngsters that could perform and then be sold if it didn't work out before retooling and having another go. We really only have a handful of players who could command decent transfer fees, the rest are too close to the end of their careers or are crap. So going forward we as a club have to find players from lower leagues or Europe that have good potential and them help them achieve that. That will either help us get promoted or it will produce a good transfer fee when they are sold, our porky neighbors do this much better than we do and always have done. Our success at youth levels should now see us reap some rewards like other clubs see so we have to spend money on this side of the club to finance promotion pushes. I am hoping that Chansiri has realized this and that we pay more attention to the youth teams contracts and keep the production line moving forward as it is now. |
