Good comments Devongone. Re your end comment in parenthesis, I've said it previously and I'll say it again that Scotland has a historically rich association with Europe and one can see it in our language, our multi cultural people, our behaviour and indeed the strong pro-European backgrounds and integration within Scotland itself. I regard myself as a Scot and a cosmopolitan due to my rich family background that is blended with many Euro nationalities and my grand kids also have an English element in their blood line. We are similar to London in many respects but we are distinctly different due to our identifiable 'Scottishness' as well! IMO it was an absolute tragedy that we are not already well into being a separate, sovereign country and recent events like Brexit and the alarming change in attitude and tolerance down south (+extreme Toryism - the wrong party that is running our country at the current time btw!!) merely confirm that view.

Also try to view the brief televised interview and spontaneous reaction from a Bristol woman who has been randomly approached on a street and informed of another impending general election - it is priceless and a popular YouTube hit and her response begins, 'Anotherrrrrr general electionnnn!!!! Too many people playing politics in this country grrrrr'.........lol!!!

I'm kind of torn on this one. Part of me would like to vote labour to support likeminded folk in England who will suffer under this evil crone's reign..... but as much as corbyns heart is in the right place and he has some good policies he just isn't a good enough politician and I'm sure labour will be annihilated in june.

The only political target for me now is independence. After that my vote is up for grabs again, who knows labour might actually start acting like the labour party north of the border again instead of doing the tories dirty work.

They wouldn't have been able to if the labour party had any levels of competence and integrity.

They are done for in Scotland and in a few weeks you will see the tories "successfully split the labour vote" in england too. Because their vote is hopelessly split - between the brexit voting industrial north/midlands and the more metropolitan, liberal areas.

Labour are gubbed. Its their fault, no one elses.

It is indeed a strange, bizarre acceptance that the Tories are gonna win this, contrary to the already optimistic preaching by Jeremy Corbyn. He certainly refers to the real issues that English voters should be seriously considering nationwide but he is unfortunately 'damaged goods' and you watch the crass antics and blanket spin coverage of the Tory press and media down south - they've already done a good job on Corbyn!!! I'm already questioning the role of the bbc in England after observing certain 'loaded' pro Tory interviews and comments! And yet 'the wicked witch of the south', Theresa May, could well be as good a target for a 'character assassination' if the NLP decided to employ real 'dirty tactics' as well! I'd attack her personal profile and her background and failures so far as she is no 'heavyweight politician' - far from it! However, I don't see the NLP employing such tactics and effectively 'thinking outside the box' against an antagonistic, toxic opponent!

The BBC have been compromised for some time now mate, and they don't even try and hide their tory bias any more.

I cant help but admire corbyn and how he "keeps coming back for more". He needs to focus his attacks on the tories handling of the NHS and education and try and make this more than just about brexit.

The problem he faces apart from his parties lack of support is that I think people perceptions of him are in place and unlikely to change, whether true or not.

I've no doubt Corbyn is indeed a 'good person' - what you see is what you get and it's amazing to see such a wide gulf between his party and toxic Tories in the eyes of a very naive English public but I'm convinced this adoring public significantly comprises the 'me me me brigade' who are naively 'being led down the garden path' by these Toerags and their sycophantic press/media!!!! Even May's speech yesrterday had regular reference to 'me', what I want, my requirements and not the needs of the British people!! I notice the Guardian Newspaper exposed that error on the part of this UK PM who is embracing the whole population - utter claptrap!
On the Scottish political front I notice at 1st Minister's QT Nicola expertly swatting away any shit coming from the two unionist stooges, Dugdale (SNLP) and Davidson (Con), who really are a couple of 'slavers' - how they are worth a salary of about £80k pa is beyond me! Nicola exposed the moral frailty of this Tory clown, Davidson, over the simmering 'rape child benefit' issue that is statutory and a Tory one 'to boot' and Davidson unwilling to condemn it!! Thumb down As for Dugdale questioning mass SNP abstentions re the election vote in parliament - quickly 'slapped down' again by Sturgeon with a priceless jibe - Unionist Labour backing Tories again and all together in the corridors of Westminster - TURKEYS AND XMAS come to mind says Nicola scathingly as Dugdale slinked back in her chair!! I'm sure most free thinking voting Scots will start 'calling a spade a spade' and vote SNP accordingly with their heads screwed on and let the English population deal with a real crisis in democratic principles and a FPTP electoral system that is 'not fit for purpose' and should've been reformed years ago!!

I think it was noticeable how much more relaxed and effective corbyn was on the "campaign trail" and he answered questions well unlike cruella who is highly evasive and preparing to let the media do her job for her.

Corbyn actually understands the challenges facing people better than may,I just dont think he is a gifted enough politician to cut through the bullshit and effect change and get middle ground voters behind him.

I still cant help but like him though.

We all liked Michael Foot, Neil Kinnock etc back in the day but they proved to be unelectable in a General Election, and I think Corbyn falls into that same category.

What is this election going to focus on though, for me it will center around Brexit, that will dominate the topics covered and while it might play well for Corbyn to focus on the NHS or education, those topics are not going to give him the headlines he will need to make a big enough impact. Does anyone think that Labour should come out as the party that will repeal Brexit and keep the UK in the EU?? 48% of the voters in that referendum wanted to stay in, I am sure with what we know now it might be higher than that, could they get the votes they need by making that their main manifesto pledge??

RE: Cruella calls a General Election for June!! Tory chancers at work again!!!! - 0762 - 20-04-2017

Yep! That's a good call Saint Charles Owl but a calculated gamble by an opposition leader called Corbyn who was 'part of the problem' in England when Brexit was bizarrely voted in - he didn't do himself any favours in the eyes of many Scottish voters and I'm sure the same sentiment was shared by many disenchanted English 'remain' voters. Lastly I place May in the same category as Michael Foot and what a target she is if the opposition had the 'balls' and 'blanket media' behind them to destroy her character and reputation! Bizarre!

Labour are going to focus on issues like the NHS, education, lack of housing etc, while the Lib Dems are going to run on an anti-Brexit campaign and they will be hoping to get votes off the electorate who are Pro EU. The Tories are going to run on pushing through with Brexit finish what they started thing which is pretty worrying because if they get a big majority they may try and push other things through as well which could make them very very unpopular. The SNP are going to run on Indy 2 and anti-Brexit. UKIP are pretty much finished.

We've had 7 years of a Tory Government and I don't understand how anyone can vote for them after what they've done. Bedroom Tax, millions using foodbanks, NHS in crisis, no job security, its only a few weeks they tried to screw the self employed over.
