Am I missing something here? We have a multi billionaire as our Chairman and owner. Right? So why would it not have been possible in the January window to replace people whom we had moved on? I refer to SCO's earlier post-"unless JL has money to replace outgoing players." Why wouldn't he have? Huh Huh Huh

RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Imre varadi - 05-02-2018

because hes spent a fortune on shite !! and now its no fun anymore so he wants his money back thats why the thundercunt was employed to bleed it all back into his pockets ... this club is going nowhere it happened at blackburn blackpool charlton coventry and forest they came in throwing money around and when it didnt work they worked out how to fleace the club back !

It wasnt a case of buying 6 players in the transfer window it was a case of buying at least one quality midfielder and building around him and pelopessey but yet again hes shown he is inept becuase his staff are not doing there job and getting away with it !!

I think we've about hit our limit for the FFP. Rhodes costing 8 million, for one. 5 million for Reach.

13M on those two alone... The crock Abdi cost 4m

RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Imre varadi - 05-02-2018

well rhodes should have gone then ? offcourse abdi is the worst signing since wim jonk and we are stuck with the xxxx !! reach to me is only worth half of that fee but if madine and huggils went for the price they did then maybe its ok ? 5 million pound for a player who cant keep a ball down when shooting on goal ????

RE: Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general - Owlkev71 - 05-02-2018

Its OK saying get rid of them, but who would seriously bid for them. We might get £2-3 million for Rhodes and probably the same for Reach. Abdi, half a million if we were lucky. And DC wouldn't just release any of them, he would want some of the money back, but I could only see him getting a third of it back, maybe half at best.

And like I said getting rid of any of the players we paid decent fees for means their transfer fee gets included towards FFP now rather than being spread over a few years. If DC were to splash 10m on someone else at this stage what would it achieve?? This season is dead, we have enough players to come back from injury to avoid relegation and then Jos can start the remodeling of the squad in the summer, at which point a few things will drop off the FFP radar from three years ago.

We are in the same position that Derby, Brighton and Forest have all been in, the question is whether we risk going over FFP like Forest did when they were given a transfer embargo, or whether we accept this season as a bad one and clearing out what we can to be able to add to the squad to try moving forward over the next two years like Derby and Brighton have done. DC is not blameless in all this but he put his faith in Carlos to build on the PO final team to move us forward but the signings we made that summer have proved to be pretty much useless for a variety of reasons, that is where we stumbled and that is down to Carlos.

There was a very good Wednesday week podcast explaining the intricate nature of the FFP rules and there was also some discussion at the recent fans forum that went on into the early hours of the morning.
DC relied too heavily at the beginning on Doyen, was later convinced by others against better judgement to sanction the signing of Rhodes and with having a bunch of aging well paid players on high wages we currently are screwed. Then of course we have a full team of LT injuries due to enforced medical mismanagement.
From what I have read elsewhere I think DC has funds or access to them and would love to do a Man City but times have changed. Others may disagree but I honestly believe they are in it for the long haul and at some point we will have Chairman Att running the club.
For me avoiding relegation is success this year along with having plans in place in the summer to perform the turn around which may then take another couple of years.

I agree, I don't think DC is going anywhere and I for one welcome that. There is no way we are going to find anyone else with his money to buy the club. He admitted when he came in that football was not something he knew a lot about and he has certainly made mistakes, but he seems to be the sort of person who will keep things evolving until we get it right. He said at one fan forum that he sanctioned the signing of a couple of players to try to placate the fans, Rhodes was probably one of them, I don't think he will be doing that anytime soon again!! He now has his CEO, as most fans thought he needed and I think we have a very pragmatic manager that has experience of developing a club rather than buying promotion, and as we have shown that is probably a more sustainable way to go if the spending doesn't work. DC created the rod for his back by promising promotion in 2 years and then the PO final pushed the fans expectations through the roof. The reality is we are now 18 years removed from the Prem and its gong to take a few seasons to build a consistent challenge to get us back there, lets hope Jos is the man to rebuild us again.
