DD, great to hear from you ....... missed you on here.

To answer your question.... no, originally south west currently south east just outside the smoke. With a few other places in between, a child of the sixties .....

Villa rumoured to be chasing Boaz Myhill

From Birmingham Mail:

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis finally hopes to snap up Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips this summer.

Baggies boss Pulis was close to landing Phillips,25, last summer but Albion could not agree a free despite protracted talks.

QPR wanted £10million following their relegation but are now less demanding with Phillips having just 12 months left on his contract.

No wonder we did not get him if TP was trying to get him "on a free"  Big Grin

Not sure on Phillips, not really stood out in the Championship although he did have a reasonable season. For a relatively cheap fee he might be worth a punt. I still think you have to go back to Jerome Thomas for the last winger signing that actually worked out for us. We've been unacceptably bad in that department for the past 6 seasons, its a real disadvantage going into every single season with the worst set of wingers in the league - especially considering its a leauge that virtually revolves around wingers and pace with us coming up against the likes of Mahrez, Hazard, Sanchez, Bolasie, Zaha, Montero, Antonio etc. every week and the only threat we can muster is Gardner and McClean...

DD, the spelling error is due to my age rather than region ..... but I must not grumble ..... get to retire soon at a young fifty.

Benteke: The Mail carry quotes from a reported source close to the player, who said the 25 year old would only consider The Hawthorns as a last resort. 'He's still hoping he can force his way back into the team with a strong pre-season. If he moves it will be to a London team like West Ham or Crystal Palace - West Brom is not really an option. His agent wants to push him to a London team. He's said no to West Brom because he's played at Villa and the long-ball game is not the kind of football he wants to play. He earns a lot of money at Liverpool and I don't see Albion matching that. Maybe when there's no other options he might consider West Brom, if it's the last resort.'

Adding spice to the source being genuine, it added.

'He needs a manager who trusts him and will put an arm around him like Paul Lambert and Tim Sherwood did at Villa. He needs a lot of attention because he's quite mentally weak in a way.'
