Almost echoing the thoughts on another post - sorry, don't  remember who or where! - am I the only one who thinks we're on the verge of having a really good team?

I think you might be referring to the post by BrokenManRepaired on page 3 of the WBA vs Sunderland match thread.

RE: 2016/17 (Jan 23 Update) WBA January Transfer Window - Stairs - 23-01-2017

Updated the main page - Off for a few days pampering and will update any new info on Thursday.

Hopeful a new striker will become apparent or the Ighalo issue is just a smoke screen to put pressure on Watford.......

Not sure at all about this Felipe Caicedo his club record is a little concerning and his scoring record is not one to set anyone on fire for a centre forward.  Transfermarkt renowned for their inflated values,  put his value at £2.55 million

Aug 31 2008    FC Basel          to   Man City        £4.25mil
Jul 25 2009     Man City          to   Sporting CP    Loan
Dec 31, 2009   Sporting CP     to    Man City        End of loan
Jan 8, 2010     Man City         to    Málaga CF      Loan
Jun 30, 2010   Málaga CF       to    Man City        End of loan
Sep 1, 2010    Man City         to    Levante UD    Loan
Jun 30, 2011   Levante UD     to    Man City         End of loan
Jul 1, 2011     Man City         to    Levante UD     £850k
Jul 15, 2011    Levante UD     to    Loko Moscow  £6.38m
Jan 16, 2014   Loko Moscow   to    Al-Jazira        £5.95m
Jul 15, 2014    Al-Jazira         to    Espanyol        Free transfer

Probably paper talk though! (I hope)

As for Ivanovic great defender, but 33 in a week or two! do we really want to be signing players at that age to help us progress?  Granted as a stop gap it might be a good move, but our current problems are around some of our players are getting to old to track back with some of younger faster players for the whole game.
IMO we need to build for the future and stop this policy of crisis management year after year.  Reminds me a bit of an old uncle of mind, who's car would not get repaired or replaced, unless it broke down all together .  "It'll last another year lad he used to say" (but it rarely did),  sounds a bit like a conversation in Garlick's office  Wink

Always rated Caicedo myself. A big target man who can actually play too. I remember watching him regularly for Man City in Europe and he was always impressive, but unfortunate to be there in an era where they had the big money coming in so his opportunities were limited. Did score against us though...

Went to Levante and was very good in what was one of La Liga's poorer teams.

Since then he's been a bit of a journeyman in all fairness, but at 28 he's still a decent age.

I went to Barcelona vs Espanyol before Christmas and he impressed me. Good touch, held the ball up well and was good on the ball. Pique and Mascherano knew they'd been in a game that night. With only Rondon and Robson Kanu, we definitely need someone else and he'd be a good addition to the squad for the money touted.

RE: 2016/17 (Jan 23 Update) WBA January Transfer Window - Beefy 1965 - 24-01-2017

We are West Brom and people would say no to Ivanovic because he is to old ?
Gmac is 37 and only just starting to show his age,
He's a beast of a defender and him turning up at the Albion would be some statement,
Line him up along side Evans or at RB with Daws in the centre and for a few Years that could be awesome,
I know what people are saying but top professionals are playing until they are almost 40,
Would we turn our noses up at Zlatan coming here because he's 35  Whistle
I know where people are coming from about our age and as long as we get a good CB in with that back 4 to learn from them it's win win for me,
Come on, premier League champion, Champions league Champion , full international and we are questioning this.
Good Job were not in for Ronaldo he will be 32 soon  Big Grin

Anyway in my opinion it wont happen, I can see wages as a huge obstacle here Thumb down

West Brom have cooled their interest in 27-year-old Watford striker Odion Ighalo, but Baggies boss Tony Pulis is keen to make one more signing this month. (Express and Star) DD Angry Angry

We really do need to sign a striker but I can't say I'd be upset if we didn't sign Ighalo. Way overpriced even at £17 million and Watford seem to want more.
