It doesn't really matter how many amendments are proposed and voted on. In the extremely unlikely event of any of them gaining a majority in the UK Parliament, it will then have to gain approval from the EU. I suppose, theoretically at least, two amendments might be passed at Westminster. What happens then?

They are just running down the clock now til we are out with no deal. May will blame labour and the EUs intransigence, labour will blame the tories, the SNP will blame Westminster and the EU will look on bemused.
The best one recently was the BBCs John Humphries on Friday suggesting the republic of Ireland rejoins the UK to solve this backstop 'crisis'
The Irish minister he was interviewing did very well to keep his cool.

Looking at the various tory amendments for this week and you have to keep reminding yourself that, even if one of them passes, it means May going back and telling the EU that she doesn't want the Withdrawal agreement SHE agreed to, and not only that persuading them not only to re-negotiate, but to chuck Ireland under the bus too.
Ireland who, as one of the EU 27, will be asked to ratify the agreement.....
She is playing the country for fools.
Labour 3 line whipping their MPs to support coopers amendment, which would in effect "stop the clock" to allow an article 50 extension and rule out no deal. That's IF the EU backs it.

I just listened to this shameless f###### hypocrite but we always knew this is exactly what she is and she is surrounded by many of her shameless associates who I've listened to on countless occasions and are so similar in this kinda shit behaviour!! They are political "chancers" who should be nowhere near governing any country, let alone the UK. As for Mrs Windrush, I've said this before that I think she is manic and mentally unstable and there was a very good recent Guardian article that covered that "theme" as well - all based on observing and listening to this horrible woman. I can't believe there are lotsa folk in England who feel sorry for her!!!!?? This is a woman/PM with a multi millionaire husband who has made a "packet" out of NHS contracts!!!

Other thing is if Mays immigration bill passed it will be boom time for people smugglers - and the UK just doesn't have the resources to cover our coastline.

The Labour party's pathetic role in this and the whole Brexit sham is finally being reflected in Scotland where there are signs now that lotsa their members are deserting them for various reasons. All I can say is, at last some Scots are beginning to see the light after all the shameful antics of this mainstream unionist political party. One of the main reasons must be the lack of support for the majority remain vote in Scotland, a vote that has now hardened and risen to over 70%! Deeeelighted!!

After all the votes tonight, we're not really any further forward. Yes, MPs have voted to avoid a No Deal, but we've always wanted to avoid a No Deal, so there's no progress there. The default position is still No Deal on 29 March, unless a Deal is agreed with the EU.
MPs have also voted to send Mrs May back to the table to re-negotiate a Deal that the EU say they won't re-negotiate. So, after 22 months of hard bargaining, we're now scrambling about, against the clock, to make some progress. Never trust politicians, especially those in a position of power.

I'm listening to another EU spokesman talking to a bbc Newsnight, the view being this Brady move is something to preserve the unity of the Tory party! Spot on and there is no negotiation forthcoming, May knows that fact!! I think the UK govt is an embarrassment globally, no doubt! Also EU ensuring Ireland is being protected and has May got any credibility left??? Nooooo!!!

They only voted on an amendment that did nothing to prevent a no deal Brexit though, other than say they don't want one. Coopers would have gone further.
The Brady vote is ridiculous - the EU have already ruled it out before the votes were counted. May is driving a coach and horses through her own negotiations and the Irish backstop that she helped create...that is necessary.
It's not about re-negotiation, the ERG and DUP are calling the shots now and are happy to run the clock down til no deal by sending may back on a fools errand. May is still hoping to frighten UK MPs into voting for her deal on that basis. Its truly disgraceful.
