RE: 2016/17 (Jan 015) WBA January Transfer Window - drewks - 17-01-2017 (17-01-2017, 11:15)Mosestheballwinner Wrote: We need two new centre-backs. Gmac is creaking more frequently and Jonas is done. Despite his past I could see Curtis Davies as a replacement for one of them and partner him up with Evans. There aren't many CBs that are any good in our price range. The least we can do is buy one that can run and not make stupid decisions to leave the top English marksman free in the box. I was stunned by Gmac's performance on Saturday. Yeh, as much as I like and admire GMac, I agree; he's becoming more fallible in his decision making, and his lack of pace means that our back 4 have to sit so deep. Also agree about Curtis Davies, as much as it pains me to. I've never understood why a top CB is only worth around 25% of a striker in the market! A dominant, fast CB that can organise the whole defence and play the ball out when appropriate is, in my book, the most valuable asset in a team! RE: 2016/17 (Jan 015) WBA January Transfer Window - Dingle-Dingle - 17-01-2017 Tyler Roberts on loan to Shrewsbury. Andre Wright on loan to Yeovil. DD RE: 2016/17 (Jan 015) WBA January Transfer Window - Baggievicar - 17-01-2017 We seem to loan a lot of players to the same few clubs. Do you think we try to fit them to a club where they may be suited and develop, or is it just a question of getting them out of the door so we can say they're playing somewhere, so we sling them in the usual direction (Shrews, Walsall...)? RE: 2016/17 (Jan 015) WBA January Transfer Window - HRK - 17-01-2017 (17-01-2017, 20:14)Baggievicar Wrote: We seem to loan a lot of players to the same few clubs. I'd like to think it's because we've built a good relationship with those clubs and they're very happy to blood these talented youngsters that our academy is producing. If we were a league lower down I think we'd see much more of our academy players getting a crack at some time in the first team, instead we see them often having loan spells then moving on. Not always the case though. Even though I hate to mention the B Word, Berahino had quite a few loan spells before he then made his claim for the first team under Clarke. Just a case of too much too soon in hindsight and it's gone to his head. (16-01-2017, 18:33)tidy Wrote: I would be more than happy to see Livermore at the Albion. Ditto. He, Snodgrass and although it pains me to say it, Curtis Davies; would all be very wise purchases if we could land them in this window imo. RE: 2016/17 (Jan 17 Update) WBA January Transfer Window - Stairs - 17-01-2017 We loan out to give them competitive experience and see how they handle it - plus we have bought a young lad from Yoevil (Callum Morton - winger) and are looking at a 17yr old from Brentford and a winger from Burnley. These are all good investments for the future. I am very happy with that aspect of what we do, just need to seal a few signing for immediate first team football. RE: 2016/17 (Jan 17 Update) WBA January Transfer Window - 4evaabaggie - 17-01-2017 Didn't Curtis leave us for a, quote "bigger club", oh how his career flew after that with trophy after trophy, so many England caps, why would he come back to little Albion. I for one don't want him back, or odemwinge, or Berahino for that matter. If they can show such disrespect to our club that plucked them from the lower leagues, from a racist hell and developed them from childhood, respectively, why would they be any different second time around, or stayed on. Fresh blood, better players that will have pride in the stripes ....... forward together not backwards. Albion til I die ....... RE: 2016/17 (Jan 17 Update) WBA January Transfer Window - BaggieSteve - 17-01-2017 I know that feelings run very deep concerning certain current and previous players, specifically Berahino and Odemwingie but, personally, I couldn't care less what reason a player has or had for leaving us, my only issue is will/would he make us a better team by playing for us. I've long given up on the moral position taken by the modern day footballer and accept the fact that, whilst I've been wedded to the Baggies since 1962, for these guys it's a job and there is no element of loyalty at all. So, I'd be happy to see Curtis Davies back in an Albion shirt, I think he's a very good defender and would be excellent playing alongside Jonny Evans. RE: 2016/17 (Jan 17 Update) WBA January Transfer Window - Dingle-Dingle - 18-01-2017 Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa wants to leave, with West Brom, Hull, Sunderland and Swansea interested in the 30-year-old.
