We should never have sold Long when we did, the same as with Kevin Phillips, they both had something left to give. I still think Long has a few more miles in the tank, however, yes last season he banged in 13 in 34 games (10 in 28 in the premiership), but so far this season it is 1 in 22 in all competitions, 1 in 15 in the premiership.

If we are looking for a £5 mil(ish) back up, then he would be a good bet. If we are looking for someone who can start and bang in 15 a season, as much as I like Long, his work rate for the team and his knack of knowing where to be and when, then Long is not the guy for us.

Still buy him for £5 million though.

RE: 2016/17 (Jan 02) WBA January Transfer Window - Stairs - 02-01-2017

He'd be a popular purchase but it could all going very wrong, for the reasons Salop gives above. I suspect Long wants to play regularly and is frustrated at being a bench impact player - I doubt, rather I'd hope (because we will buy a far younger striker) he'd be any more than that with us as well

Who was that fantastic goal against, scored by Mozza, when Long broke at speed down the right, crossed to the far post and Mozza headed in with a brilliantly timed run ?
One of my all time favourites!

I live just outside of leeds. They are absolutely flying so can't see them offloading any players when the opportunity for promotion is the greatest it's ever been for them. Taylor very highly rated by Leeds as well and with Cellinio at the helm who knows.

I would suggest a big offer would snap him up. Proportion would possibly encourage Taylor to extend his contract otherwise they will lose him on a free.
