RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - BC Baggie - 31-08-2015 (31-08-2015, 22:36)wba_1996 Wrote: Don't want Austin, even if Saido was to go - which I don't think will happen. We need a playmaker and/or a winger, what is the point in signing quality strikers if we can't even pass the ball twice in a row, let alone supply them with chances? Would Phillips be your first choice ? Says we have taken a huge loss but if i remember rightly the £10 million was way off mark with a lot of add ons, Correct me if im wrong but Garlick said our initial outlay was just the £4.5 Million, about what we have recouped ? http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/790161624?-11200:789:0 RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - BaggieMan - 31-08-2015 (31-08-2015, 22:29)wba_1996 Wrote: Sicknote: 'he would walk into any team in the Championship' 96, 'walk' into any Championship team !!! You know very well he'd be on crutches or in a wheelchair !!! Totally agree on Ideye and the thug Walters. RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - Beefy 1965 - 31-08-2015 Found it Guys It was SBG who heard Garlick at a supporters Q&A state the fee for Brown Ideye, The Fee at the time strong words i know, but were quoted as Lies, Before people think we have taken a huge loss on him it may be interesting to read this link off this site from last Year Seems like it was only £2.5 million up front http://www.sportsbabble.co.uk/thread-1158.html?highlight=brown+Ideye+Garlick RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - Slick_Footwork - 31-08-2015 Glad to see Ideye out, didn't impress me at all. Couldn't trap a bag of cement, couldn't pass and couldn't strike the ball cleanly if he was more than 5 yards out. The guy had plenty of effort and was reasonable in the air, but I'm a stickler for player being able to do the basics of controlling the ball and passing to someone in the same colour shirt, which he wasn't very good at. I'm one of the few (seemingly) who would be sad to see Anichebe go though. Although he's often injured, I think he has something to offer as a squad player, particularly an impact sub. I don't think forward is a priority position with Rondon, Lambert and Anichebe and therefore would prefer if money was spent on midfielders even if Saido is sold. Although I have it on good authority that Pulis is definitely in for Austin. Personally, I don't think he's the type to really create something out of nothing - so see him as a waste of cash if he's signed and we persist with our current crop of midfield plodders. Looks like Austin is having a medical at West Ham, did not see us going for him unless Saido went. West Brom in talks over £5m deal for Napoli defensive midfielder David Lopez - but it is the Daily Smell RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - BaggieMan - 31-08-2015 Sicknote an 'Impact Sub' Slick ? There would be more impact if you chucked a packet of frozen peas on the pitch ! Nice guy he may be but just not fookin' good enough ! RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - bomberbrown1968 - 31-08-2015 I'm with you Slick, seemed a nice enough bloke and a trier but not sorry to see Ideye go, never cut it and never looked likely to, touch and lay offs were awful. Also with you on Big Vic, when he's fit he's almost unplayable rolling defenders, but sadly too many injuries and doesn't stay fit for long, I would think the Albion medical team were aware of his problems and had hoped they could keep him fit for longer, but again sadly not. RE: WBA Summer 2015 Transfer Window (31st Aug) - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 01-09-2015 Problem with Anichebe is that even when he is fit, he's insanely inconsistent. Sometimes when he's on the pitch you can really see why we bought him - he does what Marc-Antoine Fortune used to, but better, and defences can't handle him - but in other games, we may as well field a prize-winning marrow in his place for all he contributes. I think it was in the second half on Astle Day when a Leicester defender slipped on the ball, and Anichebe - rather than being on his toes, putting pressure on, ready to punish the mistake - was stood on his heels ten yards away, and missed what would have been a solid-gold chance to put the game to bed. Frustrating, and after two years, there's really no sign of him ever changing. |
