The Owls v Villa SBC Match Thread - Owlkev71 - 21-02-2018 THE MATCH SATURDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 3:00PM KICK OFF v LAST MATCH Oh Dear. Playing a football game with no strikers is never a good idea and so it proved as we went to defeat to Millwall. Jos decided to play Boyd & Wallace up front for some reason, while the "rested" Joao and Nuhiu were on the bench. Pelupessy got his first for the club with a cracking finish. Mistakes at the back gave Millwall there 2 goals and Thorniley went off with a serious looking facial injury, more than likely joining our list of long term injuries THE MATCH A chance for us to do a double as Villa make he trip to Hillsborough. We won at Villa park a few months ago with Reach & Rhodes on the score-sheet. Villa had been in great form prior to there defeat to Fulham & Tuesday nights draw against Preston, and now lie third in the Championship. Hopefully no more silly team selections after the Millwall debacle. JL: Rhodes back training and available for Saturday. JL: We see the players everyday and their physical situation, we must handle the situation we have JL: In the short time I’m here, we have had a lot of challenges and I must make the best decisions for every game JL: We must closely monitor the players, I’m 6 weeks here and the players playing have not had much football over the last months Interesting news about George Hirst: George Hirst is now back training with the first team squad Plays for the Under 23's in the next game He's not played for eight months so needs to get match fit Potential for moving into the first eleven once match fit I can't say that George Hirst will stay at the club There are two parts - the player and the club Right now I have the player and we must have patience for a good outcome and solution on the club side. You cannot expect the player to be 100% for his performance after eight months out. Would still expect him to leave in the summer, unless there have been some serious negotiations going on behind the scenes.
