The TdF organisers have postponed this year's race by 2 months to 29 August with the Grand Depart taking place in Nice and ending on 20 September in Paris. I have attached two links to the news if anyone wants further details.

It will be interesting to see the amended calendar for all the ICU events that are supposed to be squeezed into 4 months at the end of the year - that is, assuming there is no second surge of coronavirus in Europe and sufficient relaxation of Government "lockdowns" are announced. Take nothing for granted.

Will also be interesting to see how they cope with the maybe higher temperatures than June.

The dates for the TdF have been confirmed by the ICU, although the French Government have extended a ban on mass gatherings until September.

We all know the mass frenzy caused by the race and the scenes of the riders being mobbed on many of the big climbs. As the race takes place on public roads with absolutely no way of controlling public access, I am certain that any possible extension of the ban will be totally ignored by the French public.

I still take nothing for granted.

It's going to be strange seeing that; I've spent a couple of weeks in Nice, and it's lovely.

Good to see you back on here, Marco. Let's hope we get the chance in September to discuss true athletes giving their all.

Thanks, it's good to be back. It was, initially, because I had more time on my hands whilst furloughed, but I always liked it here, so will keep popping in. Always liked the range of sports that people talk about here.

All being well, I should be on this thread with a daily update from 29 August, including all the latest statistics. Any change in regulations and treatment of the results will be reviewed every 3 weeks, based on the available evidence and a fair bit of common sense (sadly lacking elsewhere in the UK).
