Wow. Talk about leaving it late.

A goal down after only 3 minutes and with Northampton's forwards emulating Ussain Bolt, the game began to look like one to forget.

Fortunately our defence gradually got to grips with the pace of the game and after 20 minutes Ryan Broom, back to his best, curled a shot home from 20 yards. His first goal since the 4 January.

Gradually the Robins began to get on top but, were now being subjected to some agricultural tackling from our opponents which together with the Cobbler's players tendency to throw themselves flat if one of ours came anywhere near them, made life difficult for the referee.
So much so that when one of our players was tripped from behind, with the referee no more than two yards away he still failed initially to award a free kick.

We seem to get some very poor referees down at Jonny Rocks these days and this guy was worse than most.

Nevertheless a late substitution bringing Reg Varney on in place of Rueben Reid did the trick with 'Reg' tapping the ball home from a couple of yards following a scramble in their penalty area.

A sigh of relief all round!! Whistle
Some days I'm top dog, most days I'm just the lamp post.
