Period Poverty!
#1
Dundee United supporters’ groups ULT83 and ArabTrust have joined forces to provide free sanitary products for women visiting Tannadice.

United are one of only a handful of football clubs taking part in the campaign to tackle “period poverty”.

Statistics have indicated that one in 10 girls have been unable to afford sanitary products and the fans’ groups wanted to do their bit to help.

Funded by the groups themselves, the items will be available in the ladies’ toilets in two of the stands as well as the Hegarty Suite, starting at the match against Partick Thistle today.

Since 2015, ULT83 has raised more than £5,000 for local community causes as well as the Dundee United Youth Development Board and the Dundee United Community Trust.

Members of the group said they were delighted to join forces with ArabTrust, which has provided more than £300,000 to the Tannadice club since 2003.

ArabTrust chairwoman Susan Batten said: “We thought it would be a great idea to provide free sanitary products for our female fans and for the women who visit Tannadice.

“We are very proud to be part of the campaign to provide free products for those women who can’t afford to buy them.

“If it proves to be successful we will continue with this at the club and continue to fund it ourselves.”
